We did not stay at this hotel but visited it several times as it must have belonged to the same group of hotels we were staying in. Our hotel had notices about entertainment evenings at the President. It is an upmarket hotel with a considerable number of rooms, it has been built into the side of the hill and I would think every room would get a magnificent ocean view. The pool area was nice, however I believe the Argosy beach was by far the best beach in the district.
Unique Quality: This is a 4 star hotel. We did not stay here but were just a few steps away in the Argosy - part of the Babin Kuk Hotel Complex, populary used by tour operators. Spacious lobby and had nice bar area (expensive prices compared to the Argosy I noticed) and wonderful views overlooking the bay and across to the islands. The advantage over the Argosy is its beach/lido position with sunbeds facilities right on the front. The pool here is indoors - no outdor one but I suppose in summer months that is not a problem with the beach side facilities. The president also has its own boat landing stage - boas depart from here for the Elapahati Island Cruise.
Although the literature on the President describes its "beach" as private, it certainly wasn't when we stayed there. Each day at about 4.00pm and all day Saturday and Sunday the locals would inundate the area, at one point we couldn't move off our sunbeds without clambering over them. When we reported this to the duty manager we were told it is against the law in croatia to have private beaches. OUR TIP IS:- get down to the beach early and leave before the hoards arrive during the week and at the weekend go off touring for the day.
Unique Quality: The heated indoor pool was nowhere near as warm as the sea!
Beautiful sunsets from the sea view balconies
Unique Quality: -cosy, expensive
-modern, unusual architecture
-spacious rooms
-beautiful indoor pool
-Official category: ****
Unique Quality: The Babin Kuk complex has 12 earth tennis courts, a set of table-tennis boards, grounds for volleyball, football, handball, boccie, and mini-golf. Water sports feature wind-surfing, water-skiing, rowing and sailing. From time to time there are courses for tennis, swimming, scuba-diving and wind-surfing while weekends are reserved for regattas and sports competitions. The hotel has its own beach and harbour for boats; nudist beach and an indoor swimming - pool. There are also attractive jogging tracks (total length 4 km) leading along the seaboard of the peninsula.
Within the Babin Kuk complex: piano music, pop-groups, TV-room, summer terraces and a night club.

What a wonderful hotel !
We stayed in a superior room with a enormous large terrace and a beautiful view over Dubrovnik.
The rooms were very luxury and the food was great.
We just spent a week here, and loved every minute. I was at this hotel in 1985. Today it's still similar, but has been renovated, so very modern and clean.
Rooms are spacious and well equipped. Plenty of space for all your stuff. Balcony has two chairs and table, plus a little drying rack for wet swimsuits or whatever. What a nice touch.
We only ate the breakfast buffet at the hotel, and it was delicous. Huge variety of American and European breakfast food, all very good. I heard the dinner buffet was also good, altho a little overpriced.
It's right on the beach, with wonderful clear swimming. They furnish beach towels, sun lounges, sun umbrellas, all free with your room card.
Location is good. In addition to being on the beach, the bus stop is right across the street, and #6 or #6A will take you to Old Town. There is a small park across the street, and if you walk through it you come to a small shopping plaza (souvenirs mostly), and several restaurants are in the park.
There was not a single thing I would change. You can contact me at basha417@yahoo.com.
We spent just over a week at the hotel and found it comfortable, clean, and quiet. The rooms were bright and airy, all with balconies overlooking the sea. There was easy access to the hotel beach where loungers and umbrellas were always available. The staff were very helpful and friendly. There's a great indoor spa with pool, whirlpool and saunas and a huge terrace to sit out on. The breakfasts were excellent - something for everyone in the huge buffet full of fresh fruit, juices, good bread, cheeses, cold meat, and an array of cooked food too. We didn't have dinner at the hotel but had a couple of lunches at the beach restaurant and the lovely bar, and the food was good. It is a well-designed building, although from the sea it spoils the beautiful coastline! Outside the hotel buses run regularly to the 'Old City' which is the most amazing place and great to go to in the evenings. A short walk away is a small shopping centre with a few cafes where we had a couple of lunches, and there is also a nice restaurant in the park across the road.
We had a great holiday so I would like to recommend the hotel.
LOCATION: Excellent! Not walking distance to the old town, but a 17 minute walk to the new town which has a beach, at least 10 restaurants, and coffee shops. There is a bus station right out the front door of the hotel where a bus will take you to the old town for a few dollars each way. The bus is every 15 minutes. The main advantage of this hotel is the location since it has it’s own beach as opposed to a rocky cliff. The beach, like nearly all in croatia, are medium sized pebbles, but still beautiful
BED/SHEETS/PILLOW: Bed is comfortable, not too hard and pillows are soft. Sheets are good and soft.
LIGHTING: Excellent in bedroom and bathroom.
BATHROOM/SHOWER: Bathroom is different from the rest of the room in that it is not remodeled. It’s kind of motel6-ish. The shower has good water pressure but the shower head isn’t positioned properly so that you have a large shower area, but the water will only aim to a small corner, not the most enjoyable shower experience. Plenty of hot water.
TOILETRIES: Nothing special, If you are picky, bring your own.
CLEANLINESS: The bedroom and bathroom were spotless.
A/C: Kept room cool, was quiet, and doesn’t blow air in your face while sleeping.
CLOSET SPACE: Tons of space for 2 people.
STYLE OF ROOM: Nice, but not beautiful. Separate living room area with couches is nice. The couches are a step up from the bed and therefore block the view of the water. There are excellent views from the balcony but it’s too long so you have to walk out a bit. I think the lower balcony rooms have a better view but less privacy since the upper balcony rooms look down on the lower balconies.
QUIET/LIGHT: The rooms were very quiet and there are shutters that block nearly all sunlight in the morning.
FOOD: Terrible. Breakfast is fine with a huge selection of meats, cereals, and juices. We ate in both the main restaurant and the beach restaurant and both meals were disappointing. I would suggest walking towards the new town and right past the Villa Elita is a very nice restaurant with better views and excellent food. If you are picky about good food, I would find a way to bring your own to the beach (so you don’t have to leave the beach to eat).
TV/INTERNET: The TV in the room has about 20 stations, with 3-4 in english (that’s typical in croatia). Only dial-up in the room at about US$5.00/hr. Wireless is available in the lobby for a ridiculous price of $10/hr with 24 hours costing nearly $75. We switched hotels as a result of this.
SERVICE: Mixed. The front desk where very pleasant and helpful. John the manager will take care of any concerns you have. The restaurant service is terribly slow and the beach restaurant chef and waiter look like a bunch of young kids that don’t have a clue about good food or service.
COMMON AREA: The main reason why I recommend this hotel is due to the private beach. It’s much nicer than the other options in the area. Most other beaches are more cliffs and not as beautiful. It’s disappointing to see people going around the fence to use the beach (and lounge chairs) that we pay for by staying at the hotel. There is a bar/restaurant at the beach level but no one will come to you asking if you want a drink. The hotel is in need of a refurbishment to be a 5* property but it still is nice and I like that it has more of a resort feel than neighboring hotels that seem more business-like.
TIPS: Stay here for the beach only. If you don’t care about laying out by the beach and want a good hotel in this area, there is the brand new more hotel (see my review there). Also next door is the Importanne Suites, Neptun, and Ariston (we also stayed at the ariston, so you can see my review there as well). If money is no object I would look at staying at the Villa Elita (owned by the importanne resort) that is a stunning mansion looking property with dramatic views. The rooms at the Ariston are newer and nicer, but not all have sea views and the hotel feels more business-like. I prefer the President to the others only because it is more resort hotel, but you will be happy at either.
