    Neo-classical hotel in Lapad

Hotel Lapad is located in an exclusive residential area of Dubrovnik facing the coastline just 3 km from the Old City. It has the qualities of an old colonial villa.

Unique Quality: Hotel Lapad is the perfect place to stay to explore Dubrovnik. It is close enough to the Old City and easily reached by bus No. 6. On the other hand, it is located away from the hustle and bustel of the Old Town on the Lapad peninsula facing the Lapad inlet.

Elegantly designed and conveniently located hotel

    Under construction!!!

In the lush Lapad neighborhood and seaside.

From DBV airport: Walk out of the building, turn left, you would see the Atlas shuttle bus. 35 Croatia Kuna (HR) per person to Dubrovnik. Get off at Pile Gate, then 62 HR by taxi to the hotel. Or was told to take # 6 bus (without transfer).

To Old Town: Easy access with local bus (easy to get to the old town, e.g., Pile Gate) using #6 bus which has a stop 20 meters away from the hotel, with a big yellow BUS painted on the road side. The road in front of the hotel is a one way. You have two options taking bus #6 to old town: 1) walking 20 meters away from the old town direction, take #6 bus (which will loop through entire Lapad neighborhood to pick up other passengers first) to Pile Gate; or 2) walking about 10 minutes towards old town direction (walk on the sidewalk on the waterside so that the auto drivers can see you), turn left at the intersection, then right at the next signal. Do NOT go to the area where many wait for buses taking off, instead, keep walking towards the Pile Gate direction till you see a bus stop shelter. Several routes share this stop, but all does not go to Pile Gate, make sure you take the one does go.

The hotel staff told us that one can buy day pass of 25 kuna for unlimited bus rides, but they do not sell it. They do, however, sell 8 kuna ticket (for each ride). You can buy two for a day one goes to the old town and one back. Regardless how much we enjoy walking, we choose not to walk all the way to the Old Town (2 miles each one-way).

The hotel has lots of tourist groups, so having a meal before them probably would be a better choice, otherwise the dinning area could be crowded and with loud noise.

    There are elevators.

The hotel has its own on-site parking for guests.

The reception staff were very friendly.

ROOM - Double with seaside view:
The room is mid-size, with a comfortable queen size bed (160 cm x 200 cm), a desk and sofa chair. From the balcony (NOT water front, but on the side), with a nice view of the bay.

We booked from Which was 140 Euros per night including buffet breakfast.

The room is very quiet. The small balcony has a chair to sit down enjoying the view (including the suspension bridge).

The in-room safe is large enough for our small laptop. The mini-refrigerator comes handy (we usually buy fresh fruit and skim milk, if possible, from local grocery store).

Bath room is modern and spotlessly clean. The shower/bath combination has three options one can choose from: Overhead very nice volume big shower head, hand held shower head or bath tub. The hot water comes quickly.

The design is nice, however some may not feel comfortable with its see-through glass door (I am particularly puzzled by the function of the lock on the glass door).

It has a glass bowl shape sink, around it, there is enough space to put your stuff. Extra space also is available on the ‘platform’ at the pebble stone wall behind the toilet. Besides, there was a small shelf under the sink.

The pebble stone wall behind the toilet provides an organic feel.

BREAKFAST/Buffet (included in the room rate):
There are several types of cold cuts and cheese, sauteed vegetables, fried eggs (sunshine), omelet with ham/asparagus etc (change daily), orange juice, ‘multi-vitamin’ juice (believe or not, I tried), and grapefruit juice; several types of breads, desserts, light yogurt, a few types of dry fruit, fresh pineapple, orange, and grapefruit; and canned fruit. Several types of fruit jam, and liver pate (my favorite). No skim milk. No oatmeal (either hot or as cold cereal). Several = 5-6.

The dinning area manager showed us the buffet, but we did not have a chance to take it. The main dishes are beef, pork, fish, and vegetables. It seems to have a reasonable selection of items. It is NOT cheap, 150 kuna per person.

Free wireless access is absolutely a big plus. The speed is fast.

    Unique Quality: Under construction!!!

The entire hotel is non-smoking property. We only saw people smoking at the outdoor area at pool.

It is extremely clean and new, everything seems to be well taken care of.

Elegant modern design. Convenient location (despite NOT at the old town), reasonably priced.

Less than 10 minutes walk, there is a super market. The supermarket does not have as great selection of goods as the Real in Germany, but we were able to get some fresh strawberries, bananas and grapes.

    Directions: BUS:
From Pile Gate of the old town: take #6 bus (stop would be 20 meters away from the hotel front entrance).

Look at the official website for details.

    Harbourside Pool

The hotel was generally good, staff were helpful and the rooms comfortable. The decor was a bit aged but we did stay in the cheaper wing (Without aircon).

Unique Quality: The hotel is in a quite area, very peaceful, with a nice, large, modern pool at the front. There is a nice cheap bar with a terrace where you can enjoy the wonderful views over the harbour.

island hopping

by davesut

Recommend a three island tour. Many offers around. We took the tour from outside the Hotel Lapad on the Lapad side of the harbour in Dubrovnik. Take the No 6 bus and get off at Hotel Lapad. The tour left about 10am. The board left there will give you more details. Very friendly crew on this trip. Islands of Lopud, Sipan and Kalocep visited.

Lapad Area Hotels

by lifepro about Cosmos

Lapad area is about 15 minutes from dubrovnik by bus and there is a bus every 10-15 minutes. Hence I recommend Lapad area hotels. But 3 star hotel I stayed , probably like others was not something to write home about ! If you go to breakfast buffet towards the end of the meal time, chances are you may not find some dishes as they do not replace all.
There is no service for the luggage.

by call_me_rhia about Dubrovnik Youth Hostel

This is a nice friendly hostel in the Lapad area of Dubrovkik - up on the hill from the fortified town. It''s nice and clean; rooms have 4 or 6 beds and are spacious. There''s also a large patio to sit outside, and the hostel, if you want, also provides you with cheap meals. Lapad is a nice area in Dubrovkik: it''s a 15 minutes walk from the entrance of the fortified town (but there are buses too) and it's only 5 minutes away from lovely beaches

Good Location

by lucek about Nela's rooms

The stay was great. Clean room, run by friendly owners. I reccomend this to all travelers who want a inexpensive, roomy home like setting. The apartment I had was very inexpensive and the kitchen and bath were new. Plenty of space, we had 5 people in one huge room there was a seperate kitchen and a big terrace. The apartments were in the center of the city so everything was close enough that we could walk to it. The bus station was near as well as the old town, beaches and lapad, and the marketplace.

Axcellent location for Old town and beaches

by TripAdvisor Member Kath70

We have just returned from a great week in Dubrovnik, Croatia. We are both in our early 50's Stayed in Hotel Lapad on Gruz harbour.Great location easy access by bus to the old town which is extraordinary. some great pebble beaches great walks all around the Lapad peninsula and the harbour. good breakfast in hotel, Room in lovely old part of hotel very basic. small but air conditioned which was needed as temps in high 30's. Could have done with hairdryer - a small complaint!
A perfect safe location which I would highly recommend.
Couple from Cork., Ireland.

Nice but the hotel service could be A LOT BETTER!

by TripAdvisor Member Well-Imagined

The Hotel Lapad is in a nice location along one of the bays in Dubrovnik. The rooms are pretty basic, but they do have AC which is a huge plus in the Dubrovnik summer. If you are looking for something basic with easy access to the old city (bus #6 stops right outside the hotel), then this is the place to stay. At night, they have a band that plays what sounds like Croatian music, but I couldn't be sure. I never stayed around long enough to find out.

The reception service at the hotel is pretty poor. Several times, I would go to ask a question and the person working the desk wasn't there or on their cell phone or doing something besides serving the needs of the guests. It seems that your service needs are a privilege and not necessarily your right as a hotel guest. If you are looking for top end service from hotel staff, this is probably not the right hotel for you.

Just a few tidbits: Hotel keys would routinely be left out on the counter with no reception supervision. If I was really determined, I could easily have grabbed a key for another room. In addition, when we were leaving, we turned in our key and the clerk handed us three French passports that didn't belong to us. We kindly pointed out his mistake and handed them back, indicating to him that we were just checking out and that the passports didn't belong to us.

Bottom line: Basic hotel that will get you through your stay in Dubrovnik, don't expect a whole lot from hotel staff!

stayed at this hotel in 2003 - cannot comment on the current sitation but had a fab time. Rooms were basic afairs at the time but clean. The third bed in our room was a sofa bed and ok for children but not adults. The pool was one of the few fresh water pools in dubrovnik at that time, research showed similar priced hotels all had sea water pools.

The road outside is a one way street along the side of the harbour but was far from busy. The bus does stop outside here though. I think it was on the way back from the Old Town. To get the number 6 bus into the new town, it was a 5 minute walk to the bus stop and a 10-15 minute ride.

The hotel ran a ferry to a local beach outside of Dubrovnik every day for a small charge. Alternatively walk to the Hotel Konmpass and the Lapad beach, about 10-20 mins or the bus or longer walk to Copacabana beach.

I remember the breakfast being good,a buffet style affair but you had to get their early for croissants which ran out every day. The dinner was standard hotel food and restaurants offered much better food locally and in the old town.

I do remember small boats acting as ferries across the harbour which saved our legs during the day to explore the local fruit and veg market.

We really enjoyed our stay here, it is the main pic on my Dubrovnik page. We had a great time in Dubrovnik, one of my fave places of all time
Hope this helps
if you need any more info let me know and I'll try to remember.
