amazing sunsets from the terrace
by TripAdvisor Member KasiaSkos
I stayed at the Hotel Neptun for a week with my husband as we were traveling through Croatia. The staff at the hotel was probably the best reception team I have ever encountered (and we’ve traveled a lot!). They were unbelievably helpful with transportation, attractions and restaurants. We really enjoyed the watching the sunset from the terrace every night. We will definitely visit this hotel again. P.S. The calamari from the restaurant was exceptional.
Great Place. Will Come Back, Again!

I did a bit of research (using TripAdvisor, among other sites & guidebooks) and booked the Hotel Neptun. Wasnt sure what I would find.
Turned out to be a delightful place, situated on a promontory overlooking the Adriatic. Perfect location, across from two buses which run regularly into the Old City, or other points around town.
The staff at the front desk (and elsewhere) could not have been more helpful for every request. Due to some problems I had, I asked a lot and they helped a lot! My room was in the new, Tower wing and it had a gorgeous view over the sea, with a lovely, small balcony. I left the door open at night, to hear the waves crashing below.
While the hotel caters to tour groups (and there were many while I was there) they still manage to provide personalized and prompt service, for whatever you might need. Laundry service was excellent and fast. And, the nightly buffet, while not gastronomically memorable, was certainly quality ingredients, cooked with a bit of flair and there was plenty to choose from. Other nights, I ate out. An excellent and perfectly situated (on a cliff over the water) restaurant, Levant (sp?) is literally, a 3 minute walk, along the cliff walk, from the Neptun.
I highly recommend this place! Enjoy!
Loved It

Great hotel, perfect location! Away form all the craziness of the city, yet close enough to go to the old or new town in minutes. The staff was the most accomidating of any hotel staff I have ever met (and I have traveled a lot) the food is excellent, rooms are clean and spacious. You honestly could not ask for more in a hotel than this one. I will stay here the next time and every time I visit Dubrovnik. We stayed in 7 hotels this trip to Croatia and we were the happiest with Hotel Neptun I cannot wait to see the remodel. It was perfect and now they are making it better!!!
OH!! I recommend if you do stay here to take the bus, which is about a 2 minute (if that) walk from the hotel, it drops you off and picks you up in old or new town. We tried to drive ourselves originally and could not find a parking spot so we took the bus and were so happy :0)
Dubrovnik - A Jewel of the Adriatic

We booked the Hotel Neptun with Expedia. We arrived from Split by bus and took a local bus to the hotel. The information desk at the bus station was very helpful with the local bus information. The hotel is about five minutes from the local bus stop. Unfortunately (and we were not told this at booking) the hotel is being remodelled and enlarged. There were no signs for reception so we walked around with our luggage trying to find our way. There are numerous steps for this hotel so this search was not appreciated. Finally we found reception. Our room was comfortable with a balcony overlooking the sea and the coast. It was a beautiful view in the morning and the evenings. The hotel, as mentioned, is five minutes for the bus stop. There is a direct bus services to the walled city – about 15 minutes.
The hotel’s breakfast was excellent, with a nice eating area on a patio overlooking the sea. Again though construction and steps are unavoidable to get the dining room room from our room. We decided to save the buffet dinner as a treat on our last night in Dubrovnik. We walked into the Marjan area of the city via a well lit and paved seacoast trail for our meals. The last night we were going to have the buffet diner on the patio. Hotel staff (luckily) informed us that the meal had doubled in price overnight! So … another walk into town. They were not prepared to make exception to customers who were there for four nights.
Dubrovnik is everything they say about it – a true jewel of the Adriatic. Prices are rapidly escalating here due in large part to the numerous cruises. Dubrovnik is a must see.
The Hotel Heptun was a fine hotel and once the construction is finished will probably excellent. The staff is helpful and friendly. They speak English very well. It would have been nice to have been warned of the construction or if the hotel had offered us a complimentary drink or meal as a way of making for the confusion. Otherwise the construction did not interfere with the peaceful views of the sea.
Great beachfront hotel

The selling point of the Neptun Hotel is definitely its beachfront location and two saltwater swimming pools. It's a rather large property, and also has a restaurant/cafe area overlooking the water. It is also very close to a path that leads to restaurants overlooking the water and a kind of tacky boardwalk/mall/hotel/restaurant area.
Apparently there is a "new" and an "older" hotel on the property--we stayed in the older building. Our room was medium-sized, sparsely decorated, but clean and comfortable, with a fairly modern bathroom. I'd recommend trying to book a room in the "new" part of the hotel.
The cliff beach is beautiful, and it was perfect for swimming in early September. That to me was the selling point of the hotel, and met our needs perfectly!
A real treat!

This hotel was still under a bit of construction, but nevertheless we got a fantastic room with adriatic sea view. Great friendly people and very quiet place..
Also a very good bus connection with the old town... Walking is a bit far though.
For people wanting to combine the wonders of the old town of dubrovnik and a beach vacation (with two swimming pools!) the Neptun hotel is very good place.
