Simply Sublime

I happened upon this extraordinary residence quite by accident. I had exhausted myself shopping for designer handbags in the Missoni shop and decided to drop into the nice looking restaurant on the opposite corner for some asparagus and truffle oil soup. Lo and behold, the restaurant was part of this hotel - one of the most beautiful I have ever seen in its category.

Our truly helpful waitress might well have been the Hotel Manager, such was her interest in telling us about the Hotel. She asked if we would like a guided tour and of course we jumped at the opportunity.

The Hotel is situated in an original Palace. It has been lovingly renovated with intimate attention to the highest five star de luxe standards. Indeed, it is the only five star property within the walls of the old towm.

We were shown the most stunning suite of all. It is full of wooden ceiling that disappear into windowed peaks. As you enter a huge cowhide chair stands before you. Above this, on a raised podium, stands a small dining table and chairs which are lit with a graduated strand of coloured lights.

A gracious sitting room in shades of cream adorns another podium and the lucious snowy coloured sofa lures you into its snug depths.

The bedroom houses one of the most enormous beds I have ever seen and the room has a window onto the luxurious bathroom, with its free standing whirlpool tub. This was graced with Bulgari toiletries and I found myself immediately requesting the room rate. If I had not been heading home the following day I probably would have transferred here. It's bewitching.

Unique Quality: There is a tiny chapel on the roof of this hotel where the terrace outside looks down on the streets below. Amazing.

Inbetween the Rector's Palace and the Cathedral is Gundulic square. This is a lively part of Dubrovnik with its morning market and the deluxe Pucic Palace hotel. The square is named after Dubrovnik's renowned poet Ivan Gundulic - whose staute can be found in the centre..

where to sleep ?

by YaKa

hi,

My friend and I want to go to Dubrovnik from France this summer between 14 of july and 20 july 2005.
We're wondering where to sleep and what is the cost during this period.

If anyone knows addresses or name ?

Thanks.

You're going in high season so make sure to reserve in advance. You can find everything in Dubrovnik from a youth hostel at around €20 a night for a bed to the five-star Pucic Palace at €500 for a double. I happen to like Apartments van Bloemen because it's unique and personal.
