Splendid Stay
Hotel Splendid is located on the Lapad Peninsula, about 4km from the old town. Being on the peninsula, means there are lot's of beaches near by to choose from, including your own private beach at the hotel. You'll still need to rent a chair though. I would recommend staying at Lapad over staying near the old city walls, because you are on the beach, away from the crowds and still very close and easily accessible to the old town. You can stay at the beach all day and take a bus into town at night. The bussed run often and are very inexpensive.
Unique Quality: Beautiful views of the sunset. The rooms are very spacious, actually they are suites by American standards and have large patio balconies.

Splendid hotel
The hotel is situated on a bay about 4km from Dubrovnik. This means you are away from the crowds in the old city, there are shops, cafes & bars nearby though. It's so easy to get to the city from the hotel, there is a bus stop across the road from it. The buses are frequent all day long & it only takes about 15 mins to get there. Tickets can be bought at the hotel reception.
All the rooms have a balcony, the hotel has a restaurant & snack bar. In the hotel grounds there is a tennis court. The hotel has it's own private beach of pebbles & sand. This is a great place to watch the sunset.
