Walking city wall while pregnant?

by monicarc

Just wondering if walking the city wall is advisable for some one pregnant?? Are there portions one can easily access for just a quick look? It seems like there are areas of the wall that are jagged. thanks

The walls are 2km long, the stairs are quite steep, but there are railguards so no problem.
Only problem is that the stones are slipery due to elements and many ppl walking on them.
DO NOT WALK WITH FLIPFLOPS AOR ANY LIGHT FOOTWARE!
Please get something sturdy.Even the traines are not advisable.
I have seen many light induries due to ppl not taking care of footwear they have.
Otherwise is OK, but do take water and sunhat with you.

The stairs up are steep, but the walk itself is gentle. Do it!

Hi
Pregnancy is as much a state of mind as a state of body. Granted that you have to consider that you're taking care of two rather than one, but provided that you are careful, this really shouldn't be a problem. In my experience, being pregant makes you more cautious about your balance, so chances are that your chances of losing your footing are less than when you were unencumbered!
Enjoy! and kind regards
Cathy
P.S. My daughter (now 7) had visited 8 countries before she was born, and the only downside is that she has inherited her mother's wanderlust, which looks like getting VERY expensive in the future!

be careful and if you decide to go on the walls pick early morning to avoid a heat, and tour is long 1980 meters.During a sihgtseeing along you have some shelters and possibility for sitting in case you're tired.
i hope this was helpfull

Travel Tips for Dubrovnik

Cruise ships

by Dabs

If you are planning daytrips, you might schedule them for days when the cruiseships are in Dubrovnik, as the old town is quite small and a cruise ship full of people will make it a lot less pleasant. Closer places like Cavtat might also be overwhelmed on those days.

Dubrovnik Tip

swimming in the Adriatica on the Lokrum FKK (nudist) beach. The water was +17 but it's very nice for us, two russian guys :) We were the only swimming people there. Sorry, my wife didn't approve the picture to put it here ;-) (joking)

It is a common practise to leave a tip in a restaurant or café, expecially if you are satisfied with a service.
Quality of service you receive will be transformed in an instant if you try to speak a few words of Croatian!

Franjo Tudman Bridge

by pure1942

For a lot of visitors coming to Dubrovnik from northern Croatia or Bosnia and Herzegovina, their first sight of Dubrovnik is the modern Franjo Tudman Bridge. Opened in 2002, this bridge attracted a lot of controversy during its planning, with some fearing that the huge bridge would impact negatively on the natural beauty of Dubrovnik’s surrounding coastal landscape. I have to say that to me, the bridge is a very impressive piece of modern architecture and only serves to bridge (if you’ll excuse the pun) the gap between ancient Dubrovnik and new Dubrovnik. The bridge isn’t located anywhere near the Old Town of Dubrovnik, but to the west in the newer Gruz area of the modern city, so there is no danger of it having any aesthetic effect on Dubrovnik’s Old Town charm. Crossing the 480 metre suspension bridge before entering the city, you get fantastic views over the Rijeka Dubrovacko and out across the Adriatic towards the Elaphiti Islands.

bar on the cliff

by BenFromParis about bar on the cliff

This bar is surely the most incredible bar that I've seen in Dubrovnik. As you can see on the picture, this small bar is on the cliff just outside the old town !! You'll have you drink in front of the sea, but go there, you'll first to find the entrance !! It's just a hole in the city hall not very far from the old port.
