Old town
Just walk in the streets, main street Stradun is nice, but also the rest. Enjoy various artists performing at the open spaces and feel the good atmosphere. Lots of restaurants. Lots of tourists in July.

Hi all,
Can I get a bus from Dubrovnik Airport to the old town about 19.00 - 20.00 hrs? My flight arrives at 18.15 and my accommodation is in the old town? Thanks
Thanks for getting back to me so soon! Just to clarify (as I'm a bit of a worrier) does this run on Sundays?
x
Yes - really easy. A bus meets every flight and costs about 5 euros - a taxi to the old town at Pile Gate is a fixed rate of 30 euros. Remember that on returning to the airport on the way home it never picks up in the same place - you have to go to the bus station which means taking a bus from next to the Pile Gate to the bus station and taking the airport bus from there. No idea why it does not leave from the same place! I was just there last month so this information is current. Hope it helps.
Further to my previous entry - don't remember any construction work at airport - I was there from 6th June for a week.

a writer's blue sky blues
i set myself beneath it
staring into the broad blue page
searching for a cloud
my catholic muse
an image for my words
but the sky is sweeping blue
end to end, so tightly drawn
i imagine a cloud dropped from above would only bounce
and slide right off its edges
i curse, looking for a vision
soft pencil lead smudges
blue-gray sand dune slopes
twilight's opaque salmon streaks of splintered light
knowing that my written world
is stuck beyond the earth's prevailing canopy
out there with the misplaced clouds
i am here to draw those visions into smaller sheets of sky and heaven
into worlds where happiness isn't always a blue sky
where a cloud is the shape, color, texture and movement of me
left staring into the rampant blueness feeling its weight on my shoulders
-acemj Dubrovnik is a sheet I wish I would have written . . .
The women in Dubrovnik really seem to go all out, especially in the evening. Of course there are plenty of scruffy tourists too, but if you subscribe to the "when in Rome" philosophy, bring your poshest clothes and shoes.
Lazareti (The Lazarettos) is a large and very well preserved building situated in region of Ploèe close to the sea. Its purpose was to put in quarantine foreign sailors, travellers and merchants in order to prevent the spread of contagious disease and a possible epidemic. The Lazarettos were were built from late 16th to the 18th century. The location is at a suitable position along the road where caravans from the Turkish hinterland came down. The building is composed of several parallel longitudinal rooms which one enters from the courtyard.
Latino Club Fuego is a popular nightclub just outside of the Old Town's Pile Gate. It has a cool interior, good staff, and good selection of drinks. The DJ plays all kinds of music, so don't pay attention to the name.
There is a cover. Hours are 10pm-4am on Thursday through Saturday. Casual
