Hi,
Myself and my boyfriend will be in Dubrovnik for 4 nights in August. I'd like to book a room in a home. Can anyone recommend a clean home either within the walls of the old town or within a 2 minute walk to the old town. We would prefer our own bathroom and air con since it is usually very hot in August.
Thanks
Melanie
There are many private apartments for rent in Dubrovnik at different quality and price levels. I would definitely recommend air conditioning in August b/c it can get really hot in Dubrovnik. The Old Town can get really crowded in August too, so noise could be an issue. To avoid this, you might want to consider staying just outside of the old town. There are a lot of websites that offer accommodation and most have the same apartments, but I found www.dubrovnikapartmentsource.com to be the easiest to navigate. Good luck!
Villa Flora.....right in the old town... gorgeous, clean, quiet, lovely.....can't beat it! Cheap....about 40 euros for two with breakfast and ensuite...also has a kitchen you are free to use. Pretty sure it had AC too.

The old town gets very hot on a summer day, so adopt the local custom of cooling down with some of the delicious sladoled, or ice cream, on offer pretty much everywhere. My favourite place was Kiwi on the Stradun (look for the queue) and the best flvour was lemon - very refreshing after a long walk in the sun.
One of the more interesting exhibitions in Dubrovnik is the War Photos Limited exhibition.
This exhibition shows the work of some of the worlds best wartime photografs. The original exhibition had the balkan wars 1990-1995 as its theme, and it can still be found in bookform in the museum. Exhibitions vary and the present exhibition (summer 2005) has the Israeli-Palestine conflict as its theme.
Admission is 25 kn and opening hours are :
Monday-Friday; 9-21 May-Oct and 9-16 Nov-dec and Mar-apr.
Saturday; 9-14
The address is : Antuninska 6.
Then, we moved to Sipan Island.
SIPAN is the biggest island of Elafiti, and also the most distant from Dubrovnik. There are two villages on Sipan: Sipanjska Luka and Su?ura?, placed in two counter bays divided by a plain.
Here, we were for about 1 hour & 15 minutes.
For me, just walking around the shorelines.
I could see some tourists from other tours...Not much I could remember what I was doing here except for the beautiful sceneries around the island...
Croatians are open and party lovers, so you will find a lot of places to go out in the night and have fun.
Do not forget to enjoy the beautiful sunsets over the harbour while you eat your dinner.
