Konuba Astarea

Konuba (Restaurant) Astarea is situated a short distance back from the shore, and, consequently doesn't have a view out over the sea. However, on the occasion that we went there, the food and service were good, and our meal there was more relaxed than the ones we had at the Taverna as it was less busy.

It is a short walk away from the Villa Mlini.

Mlini

Boat trips can be made from Cavtat to other coves and bays - just 15 mins away by boat across the bay the little resort of Mlini can be reached. A large hotel - the Astarea is here - plus a small pebbly beach. a very quiet laid back resort - a former water mill town long ago - a mill stone can be seen near the centre which is quaint with its little stone bridge over the river running through and into the sea. Its just 6 km south of Dubrovnik and can be reached by boat or loal bus - although be warned a steep road hasd to be climbed to reach the top road where the bus stop is.

Mlini

Mlini is an attractive and peaceful coastal village a few miles south of Dubrovnik. Boats frequently leave its small harbour directly in front of the Villa Mlini, at which we stayed, for Dubrovnik, Cavtat and nearby islands, and for fish picnics.

There are several restaurants in the village, of which we went to two, the Taverna and the Astarea, but it is rather lacking in shops, the nearest supermarket being about 20 minutes walk away in an adjacent village. It has several attractive beaches, and a pleasant promenade to wander along.

The village stretches up over the steep hill, which rises from the bay, to the main coastal road and above it. The climb up the hill is quite strenuous, ad one couple that we met had given up on an apartment that they had rented above the main road, and moved to accomodation at the bottom of the hill!

"Mlini"

Stayed in Tonkovic Apartments. Apartments were very clean - situated high up on the hill above the Astarea Hotel, and up above the main road.
Located in a quiet location. The only draw back was the the very steep climb back up especially if coming up from the beach.
Apartments were self catering - long haul for the shop - though the owner of the apartments Pavo offered to give us a lift to the shops for food provisions. He also drove us to the airport on our return.
