zagreb to makarska bus from airport??

by lizzyv

Hi all, we are arriving on Oct 1st at 6.10am? (all going smoothly) and it will take a few hours to get out of the airport, can we catch a bus from there or do we need to go elsewhere in zagreb? As far as I know there is no train service...only to Split. Advice please, as you can imagine we will be VERY tired :-)

you'll have to catch Croatia Airlines airport bus from the airport. It goes directly to the main bus station. From bus station there are direct buses to Makarska.

Buses from Zagreb airport leave every 30 minutes:

For Zagreb - Makarska buses check Zagreb bus station website:
It takes about 8 hours.

I would forget about trains - from Sept. 15th the railroad to Split will again be closed for reconstruction, and opened again in December. (Not sure about the night trains, but daily ICN trains will be cancelled in this period).

Travel Tips for Makarska

Klapa singers

by karentids

Listening to live Klapa singers. These wonderful harmony groups which sometimes sing with the addition of an instrument or two such as guitar. I find this music emotional and beautiful, it can make you cry or make the hairs stand up on your arms. "It is as if this sound emerged from the very bowels of the Earth, only to rise up and reveal the heavens. These mystical voices need neither instruments nor written music " Quoted from the following web site, very succinctly put.
If you would like to listen to clips try this web site which also has a lot of general information about Croatia and for more music clips.
We sadly did not stumble across some spontaneous singers which we were hoping for but were lucky in finding a group of singers in the square in Makarska - a marvellous setting and incredible singers. Pure enjoyment.

"Place where I would like to live"

This is the best place on Adriatic coast. If you ever go to Croatia you must visit this paradise on earth. This part of Dalmatia (south Croatia) is called makarska Rivijera and it is far more beautiful than Cote d' Azur

"Party and fun"

Party and have fun all day long and all night long too. It doesn't matter if you are young or old, you will find something that gives you pleasure.
Makarska is "The place to be "where you should be during summer.

"Sun and sea"

It is perfect!

A beautiful small town

by Petri71

I was in this very beautiful and nice croatian town in summer 1998, with 2 penfriends, one of them living there.
There is a big mountain, where this pic is taken on, nice beach, which you can see from the mountain:).
And not too much tourists, not yet then at least....more will come...
