We, mother and father and two boys of 10 and 12, are spending 2 weeks in Brela from the end of June this year.
We have not been to this area before, and are very anxious to find out more about what to do and what to see in the area. Easpecially we would like to know about exciting things to do together with the boys. We are also very fond of local cousine, both food and drink, and would appreciate comment about this as well.

If you'll have a car, take a trip to Imotski area (1 hour drive). It's not in the coastal region but hinterland, and is not touristy at all. Imotski is a tiny sleepy town on the hill with 2 beautiful lakes on its outskirts (Modro jezero=Blue lake, Crveno jezero=Red lake). Also it has different cuisine than Brela with more meat (lamb etc).
Besides Makarska Riviera, where Brela is, is full of little villages to stop by. Biokovo Mountain is overlooking Brela if you'll feel like hiking. From Drvenik, also on M. Riviera, you can take a ferry to hop on Hvar island.

Baska Voda (population 2,200) is situated 9,5 km north-west of Makarska. It is one of the oldest and most visited summer resorts in the Makarska Riviera. Long gravel beaches, thick pine wood and nicely arranged streets are the decoration and the distinction of this place.
City by the sea with beautiful mountain Biokovo in the background. In the Summer Makarska is always buzzing with people because there is a lovely and very popular beach there where you can also enjoy the water sports and along the riva, seafront, there are nice restaurants and bars.
