Travel Tips for Makarska

Brela

Brela (population 1,500) is situated 15 km north-west of Makarska, on the steep Biokovo foothills. The population there is engaged i winegrowing, olive growing, growing of marasca cherries and figs, and toursim.
Brela is the springs of beauty because of its natural features: a thick pine wood descending all the way to the beutiful gravel beaches and the clear sea. "MAKARSKA RIVIERA"

The Makarska Riviera is a coastal belt sixty kilometers long and only a few kilometers wide.
The Makarska Riviera is a real jewel which reflects the beauty of Dalmatia and Adriatic sea coast and is an ideal place to spend your Croatia vacations.
Makarska is a town of some 15 000 inhabitants, and has all advantages for pleasant stay and vacation due to its location, size and urban characteristics.

"MAKARSKA"

The town of Makarska is center of Makarska Riviera. A journey to Makarska would be fast and easy due to its vicinity to Split, an important transportation center. Makarska is less than 60 kilometers far from Split.
Croatia hotels and private accommodations in town and all along Makarska Riviera offer quality accommodation and variety of holiday activities.
People here have a long tradition and even longer list of satisfied guests who are always coming back.
I am one of them because this is my other home town and I allways return here to spend as much time as possible, almost every free moment.

"Active holidays and gastro offer in MAKARSKA"

Lots of possibilities for active vacations here on Makarska Riviera, for young and old, for all sorts of people. If you are looking for adventure and exciting sport challenges, Makarska is the right place for you.
However you come to Makarska, you shall find a magnificent gift of nature in front of you– the massive Biokovo rising above the pearl-like sea of Makarska coastline, in its impressive size and beauty. It is Biokovo mountain. There you can enjoy climbing and you can visit national park "Biokovo" with wide variety of natural beauties and mediterranean vegetation.
Makarska is the city of youth, culture, sport, fun and great dalmatian cusine. The specific combination of typical Mediterranean dishes found in numerous restaurants will surprise you.

On the panoramic route between Split and Makarska

by tomeek

All this was taken during the drive from Split to Makarska. Its about one hour rather slow drive but with this breathtaking views you don't wanna hurry! There are numerous places you can stop aside and rest, and also, take pics, like I did. Although there is another road heading south, it runs more inland, I strongly suggest this one, no need to explain why!

"Skradin"

This small pitoresque place is not on the route to Makarska but I have included it here because it was a part of my trip to southern Dalmatia. Its close to another coastal city, Sibenik, of which I have also made a separate page here. Although it appears as such, Skradin actually lies on the river, Krka, which is a part of the same name national park, again, described in more details separately.

same as above, below the bridge is Krka river.
