by dianalvesilva
Hi there!
I'm going to travel from trieste to split, and I would like to know the best / cheapest way to do it. I would like to know as well how much does cost the coach from trieste to slip.
Thank you :)

Quote from website (http://www.visit-croatia.co.uk/travellingaround/trieste.htm):
Trieste - Split/Dubrovnik by Bus
There is daily bus service operating on this route, run by SAF. However, the journey takes 10.5 hours to Split, and 15 hours to Dubrovnik, so it may not be the most comfortable option!
If you trying to reach Split or Dubrovnik, or somewhere near those cities, we would recommend flying to Ancona (for Split) or Bari (for Dubrovnik) instead, and then getting a ferry across.
Bus time table:
http://www.saf.ud.it/cms/data/pages/files/000057_resource1_orig.pdf
To get a ferry to Split you have to take a train to Ancona and then the ferry to Split.

Trieste >Split bus timetables and info here:
http://www.autostazionetrieste.it/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=20&Itemid=0
or go to
http://www.autostazionetrieste.it/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=4&Itemid=6
and click on 'Linea internazionali'.
You can also take a train, but it takes a very long time (with 2/3 changes):

for times and details.
You might also find info/fares on the Italian railway site

Travel Tips for Split
Riva
by croisbeauty
If you wish to see and feel the Mediterranean at its best, all you have to do is visit it and it wiil become clear to you why the Croatian coast of the Adriatic Sea is often called the jewel of the Mediterranean. When visiting Split take a walk along its Riva , if day or night it does not metter, just walk through the crowd and feel the scent of Mediterranean madness. The locals are very proud of Riva, considering it the most beautiful in whole the world, but aren't we all exaggerating when goes for our hometowns!
on the stadium grounds
by lil_traveller
We got the amazing opportunity to walk all around the stadium one day and we were the only ones in there. it was cool that I actually stepped on the grass and walk through the exact tunnel that the players come through.
Kastel Gomilica
by croisbeauty
Kastel Gomilica is practicaly the suburb of Split, along with other six starting with Kastel (castle). Sedam Kaštela, the Seven Castles, are located on the north seashore of Split, in the direction of the town of Trogir. Do not miss none of it when visiting Split, it realy worth to see them.
Split - Pula - Split
by tpk2
There are a couple of reasons why connections between Split and Pula are needed by many people: Pula has ferry connections to Venice and Ryanair connects Pula to London and Dublin.
Here are two options of doing this trip:
It takes around 5-6 hours by car if you use the highway. There is a road toll on the new highway.
Another option is to take the Split-Rijeka overnight ferry.
Fancy dining in Split
by tpk2 about Boban
This is a good option for fancy dining in Split. It's definitely not one of the cheapest options, but the food is good. The ambience is not really dalmation, so if you looking for something more traditional, you might check for example Konoba Kod Joze or Konoba Varos. The food is great, thought!
