Zadar is the main city in...
by Kamen_mali
Zadar is the main city in Northern Dalmatia, Zadar Old Town is located on the tip of a narrow peninsula. Although once protected by city walls, these are no longer there and only the towers and two city gates remain today. The Mainland Gate (Kopnena vrata), to the east of the Old Town, was built in 1543 and has the city coat of arms engraved on it. Close to this is the Five-Sided Tower, dating from the 13th century and the five wells which used to be the water supply for the city. The other gate is the Port Gate (Lucka vrata) to the north, built in 1573.
The city plan

The old core of the town, where the major historic attractions can be found, is situated on an peninsula. The medieval Zadar was completely forticiated, all around the peninsula, but the southern part of the walls was pulled down during the WW II bombing.
The Sea Organ
by Redang
The Sea Organ is situated near the new cruiser port, as a part of Zadar's Riva, and can be observed as a differently shaped part of the coast which consists of several stairs that descend into the sea. The stairs extend for about 70 meters along the coast, under them, at the lowest sea-tide level, 35 pipes of different lenght, diameter and tilts were built in vertically to the coast and they raise aslant until the paved part of the shore and end in a canal (a service corridor). On the pipes there are LABIUMS (whistles), which play 7 chords of 5 tones. Above the canal there are perforated stone stairs through which the sound comes out, the air pushed by the sea.

Where?: Zadarska riva, at the end of the Zadar peninsula, next to the Sea Organ.
Lavlja Vrata - The Lion's Gate
by croisbeauty
The Town Land Gate, coloquially called "Lavlja vrata" (the Lion's Gate), was erected in the 16th century (1543), together with the new city walls, which were built up for fear of the invasion of the Turks, who had already ruled over the Dalmatian hinterland. The gate was designed by the famous Venetian architect Michele Sanmicheli and it was, at the time, the main entrance to the city.
The central arch of the gate is distinguished by the chiseled figure of St. Grisogone on his horse (coat of arms of Zadar) and the monumental Lion of St. Mark.
KRKA FALLS - Along its course...

KRKA FALLS - Along its course through the karstic Dinaric Alps, the Krka Rivera cut out a beautiful canyon containing breathtaking waterfalls and rapids, all immersed in rich vegetation. The highest fall is called Skradinski Buk (46 m).
The Krka, as many yachtsmen already know, is navigable from its mouth to the picturesque town of Skradin.
The islet of Visovac is also worth visiting (with the monastery Krka/Arandelovac). Lying on a place where the Krka flows into a lake, Visovac represents a true oasis of peace and quiet with its old Franciscan monastery that dates back to the fifteenth century.
The area has cultural and historical heritage – the ruins of the medieval forts of Trosenj, the Franciscan monestary that dates back to the 15th century.
