Great Hotel, has identity issues....

Stayed for 3 days a couple weeks ago, came back last week for 4 more. One of my all-time top 5 hotel experiences. The front desk staff -- especially Ivan -- are the friendliest, most helpful hotel staff ever. Check in/out was fast and easy -- always available to answer questions and give restaurant advice and pointed us to a couple great nightclubs. The rooms "mediterean-y" -- wood floors, Ikea style furniture. Very clean and modern. And the shower.... Oh my god! The complete opposite from every other shower I've ever had in a European hotel -- lots of room and TOO MUCH water pressure -- had to turn it down. No hot and cold problems either.

The food -- all you can eat -- was fresh, beautiful, and had something for everyone -- pasta, pizza, lots of salad and fresh fruits and vegetables. Four or five different meat/fish/chicken entrees. Bread was terrific. All you can drink soft drinks, beer, and wine.

The Spa -- this is what brought us back the second time. The ladies that work in the spa are beautiful, friendly, flirty, helpful, and -- incredible at what they do. Ask for Maggie -- she has the hands of an angel. Asked her to marry me -- she turned me down. They can tell you about the clubs and if you're lucky, they'll show up and dance a couple times with you.

Unique Quality: It's a beautiful hotel. The bar off the lobby is so cool. The bar is in the center, and around it are about 6 "rooms". Big pillows on couches, sectioned off with drapes -- very cool. The outdoor pool was closed -- we were here in November -- but the slide looks great -- definately going back this summer.

About the name. The website for the hotel calls itself Club Funimation or Falkenstiener Club Funimation. You won't see any signs that say Funimation tho -- the sign and most everything in the hotel says "Borik" and the cluster of hotels in that area is refered to occasionally as "Hotel Barbera". If you get lost -- start asking for Borik and work your way through -- eventually somebody will know what you're talking about.

Hello! Accomodations in Zadar...

by Junbug

It seems very difficult to find any lodging in Zadar, although every other town I plan to visit I've already booked hotels/apartments...

Any of you lovely local members know of any places for two people, October 23rd and 24th, to stay? The only thing I find is the "Falkensteiner Club Funimation Borik" which is 250USD for one night...

ANY help would be greatly appreciated...

We just stayed south of Zagreb in Velika Gorica because it was 5 minute easy drive to the airport and a block from the bus station and took the bus 2 different days into Zagreb. It was a little run down but not bad, and it only cost $65 a night with breakfast included. Hotel Bijela Ruza.

Oh...hmmm...I wanted to stay IN each town I visited. I got apartments in Zagreb, a hotel at Plitvice Lakes, an apartment in Dubrovnik, etc...and the last piece I'm missing is Zadar...

DAVE, I tried your link, thank you. Unfortunately, still the best rate I get (and I only got 3 results) is at the same hotel I was already looking at ($250 a night). Oh well! If anyone knows of any private apartments being rented, PLEASE let me know! Thanks!

oh sorry, ZADAR....we stayed at a private sobe in Zadar. The guy walked up to us in Old town and asked if we needed a place to stay. It was gorgeous and had a beautiful breakfast garden. It was called Pansion Maria and was in the city guide book under the accredited accomodations. It cost $45 a night for 2. I don't know when you are going but right now accomodations are VERY easy to find. We spent 11 nights in Croatia without one reservation. Do not miss the sea organ in Zadar.

Besides Ellen's suggestion here is another option:

This is the largest online booking agency in Croatia, contact their customer service for assistance; they offer dozens of various accommodations in Zadar.

If you'll search yourself, Zadar is in Northern Dalmatia region.
