Very friendly choice in Zadar
Pansion Maria has a 3 star rating so don't expect to find a first class room; the bathroom is not the nicest and most modern one we've ever had and there is a ventilator instead of air-condition. However, you get good value for money and if you're not oversensitive to high temperatures and the ventilator noise you have everything you need to enjoy your stay.
Breakfast is included and served outside in the garden - they serve bread with jams, butter, cheese and several beverages.
The city center is within walking distance but it takes almost half an hour to get there. The nearest beach can be reached after a 10 minutes walk and there is a restaurant / pizzeria close by. There is a bus to the city center; the bus stop is just a few steps from Pansion Maria. However, I rather recommend this accomodation for those who travel by car (parking space available) or those who don't want to go to the city center every day and - even more important - every night as at nights there are no buses and taxis are not always easy to find.
If this review has not sounded that great so far, you will immediately change your mind when you read about the people at Pansion Maria. What makes it great to stay there is the friendliness of the owners, Zoran and Maria. They are incredibly nice to their guests. We had a very warm welcome, they provided us with a map and a lot of info material and spent about 20 minutes giving us advice on where to go to and what to do in Zadar. At breakfast they never let us wait for a long time and always asked if everything was alright. They treated us like friends and talked to us a lot. You can ask for advice or help anytime.
We highly recommend this accomodation for people who are happy with a middle-class accomodation and don't mind staying a bit outside of the city center and people who set a high value on the personal atmosphere in family run accomodations. We would definitively come back!
