The Decumanus
by JLBG
Early morning (first photo) is the best time to visit the Decumanus (BTW, this is true not only for the Decumanus). Everything is quiet and you have (nearly !) the whole town for yourself ! Moreover, the light is perfect for pictures !
As early as mid morning (second photo), it is beginning to be crowdie, but you can still walk quietly ... if you have been able to park your car ! in summer, after 10 AM, parking can be very difficult and eventually impossible. We experienced it once and had to drive back to our place !
No, no, no, now, there are too many people for us ! If you enjoy the crowd, then, that will be for you. I don't, that is why there is no photo but a picture ! I came once, some years ago, and that has been enough for me for a long time ! Quietness !
A daytrip to Pula.
by Maurizioago
Pula is the largest town in Istria. It is located at the southern tip of the peninsula. This town is well known for its Roman monuments. In fact here you can see a huge amphitheater; some arches and other ruins.
This town has a great choice of shop, restaurants and cafes.
The journey from Porec to Pula should last around 1.30 hours.
Trg Slobode
by JLBG
Trg Slobode is part of the new Poreč, 'fore le porte', but just at the entrance of the Decumanus. Hence it is always very lively, with a lot of (pedestrians !) traffic, as it is already, like the Decumanus, a pedestrian only zone (first photo).
The second photo focus onone particular house of Trg Slobode. There are not many brick houses in Poreč (neither in whole Istria). This brick house, with its stone carvings around the windows, catches the eye because of its special character. There must have been a time when brick building was more 'fashionable' than stone building, that everybody did !
While the first photo showed the left part of Trg Slobode, the third one shows the right part. Note that there are several ATM in Poreč but that you will find (at least) two of them on Trg Slobode, not on the part shown on this photo but on the right.
Nudity among the cliffs
by mickebear
Croatia is one the nudism dream countries, and Porec region is no exception to this. Beach close to Solaris camping place was a warm experience, unfortunately will be closed forever in 2005, due to hotel development in the area
Porec harbour, 2001
by bonio
Porec again this time the harbour in 2001. The boats are much smarter and on the whole is much more commercialised. Still a great place to spend time, ice creams are still magic - and huge - Boat / ferry trips along the bay leave every 1/2 hour.
