Hi, I have a group of 14 people and we are trying to get from Triest, Italy to Porec, Croatia and we were wondering if anyone had any advice for us? Is there any specific bus we take? And if so would you happen to know the cost? Thank you.
There are buses leaving from Trieste at 09:00, 11:00 and 14:00h. Takes approx 2h to Poreč. One way ticket is about 15 Euro. Or you can take a catamaran. See their website on www.usticalines.it/rotte.php?lingua=I. Hope this helps

This is the main street which runs through the center of the old town. It was also the main road during Roman times.
Today Dekumanska is a car free streets with lots of shops and several cafes.
On this street you don't have to miss a Gothic palace built in the XV century and a museum inside Sincic Palace (XVIII century. Unfortunately it was closed last time I visited Porec.
Another Venetian gothic style palace is not far, on "trg Grabara". It is even more difficult than the previous one to take a photo (first photo). It seems to be not so ''wealthy'' than the other one, as there are much less carvings.
The second photo is another Venetian Gothic style house, at the corner of the Decumanus and a small alley. It has beautiful three cusped windows. The top level seems to be built in bricks, with only the window frame in stone. The use of bricks was very unusual in Istria.
The third photo shows a different part of the same palace.
Though that now this old well is not anymore in use (it is sealed and the top has been filled with sand), it has been used for such a long time that the ropes used to draw the water out have made their way inside the stone !
Waiters in Istra do not expect tips at all. Prices are high already for the standard of living in Croatia and they know it. But also don't expect big gratefulness from them if you do leave them some. Of course here really applies the rule, if you are happy with the service, food, atmosphere leave tip, otherwise forget about it.
I have often seen this type of chimney in Istria and have never seen it elsewhere. It seems to use a very sophisticated technique with side entrances for the air that might produce a Venturi effect and improve the draught of the chimney. I would like to see more closely how it works but the roofs are high !
