Ideally located just 2km to the north of the old town - even better with ferry because it docked at the North of the town where the Car Park is.
Extremely easy to find from here - kept going left - then left - then left again.
£7 for first night then £5 per night after this for 1 person + tent so was about half price of campsite at Venice.
Facilities excellent - Hot showers although sometimes not so hot so like all campsites i think it dependswhen you shower or if somebody has run all the hot water off
Very clean - toilets open 24 hours with lighting.
What amazed me here was that there is a guy there on 24 hour security and it looked like there was a fence all the way round (I have never known anything like this in England).
Majority of people on site where Germans/ Austrians with Camper Vans - i must say pitching the tent was very difficult at first because the ground is all limestone chippings - so i think a pop up tent would be better on one of these tents and i saw asomebody with one of these.
Advanatage to limestone chippings of course is it stays very clean - even when raining.
Pros and Cons of campsite
Pros
Ideally located - easy to find - even for someone like me with extreemly poor sense of direction.
Forested so excellent shade qualities
Toilet block/ showers etc - excellent quality - washing maching and ironing board on site
Beach just literally accross the road
24 hour Security on site
Cons
Not like England were can arrive in middle of night - it closes at 10 or 11ish and i got there just before it closed (after this be warned there is a gate with a security guy and it is very liikely he will not let you in - we all have ferries or planes that can be late so be warned)
Very noisy at tent - people shouting / music / party
Cars screeching and racing nearby
Dogs barking
(Bring ear defenders at your peril - do this and you will not hear your alarm ringing in the morning and will miss your ferry back to Venice).
Some difficulty in pitching tent due to limestone chippings
Unique Quality: They advertise to be on the Coast - however it is not like children can just run out from tent to the sea - there is a major road and then literally the sea is there.
Much of the campsite is forested so you can remain very cool - you can sometimes hear Red Squirrels in the trees at night.
You can hear the sea but unfortunatley there is other noise pollution which detracts from this
There are excellent Kayaking tours that leave at 10am every morning and go around the Katarina island
The Campsite has cycles for hire which are extermely poorly maintained and are very expensite at 100Kn a day (70 -80kn everywhere else in Rovinj)
In Rovinj, I decided to stay in the Camping Ground called Porton Biondi.
I felt good sleeping underneath the stars...in my sleeping bag. Found myself a nice spot...& slept the night away, thinking what the follwoing day would bring me....
There are a few camping grounds in Rovinj. All are well-kept & clean.
Rovinj is in Istria Peninsula where it attracts tourists & campers from Europe, so the best will be offered to these visitors...
One warning....if you arrive at these camping ground without a tent, you might be rejected ! Some camping grounds ONLY accept a person's fee PLUS the space/spot for their camping gears....2 separate fees there !
Better check with the Tourist Office or Travel Agents around Rovinj...
Unique Quality: This Camping Ground has levels where the campers probably could choose their own favourite spots.
There are a few toilets & clean.
Directions: It is about 1 km from Rovinj....easy to get there by walking...
