Sol Pol

The amenities are good, loads of activities to do, kids clubs, plenty of sports to join in with. Bikes, mopeds, quads to hire, loads of water sports and tennis courts and ball sports to suit about all ages.
The pool area is excellent, lifeguards appear attentive and the kids pool is ideal for the nippers and non swimmers.
The bar area is nice and the drinks reasonable (£1.70 a pint) and the food is ok as well.
Near the reception is a row of shops and a mini market which is very adequately stocked (closes between 12 and 5pm). They speak some English but enough to get by.
Along this little parade there are numerous 'tat' shops selling all the usual holiday cliches and souvenirs. There area a couple of mini mini makets that stay open later to help out with any last minute essentials.
Angelos pizzas in the middle of this row does an amazing size Calzone pizza, it is truly enourmous. Nice tasting but flatters to deceive a little bit.
The restaurant at the bottom end of the strip (the one with the swimming pools, cant remember its name) is fantastic value and food all in one. The staff are very helpful and polite, the dishes are gerat value (family of 5 eat with drinks for around £25), really worth trying.
At the top of the strip is little bar called Cheers. Friendly staff, ferquented by locals and Sol Pol staff alike and amazing value. Pint and a glass of wine for £2!!!!! Kids drinks are usally £1.20 a bottle, Sprite, Coke etc. But the girl who works there is tireless and friendly and the pool table appears to attract crowds.
Overall it was a good place to stay. The accomodation is very very basic (no kettle, no microwave, no sharp knife, no chopping board etc) but you shouldnt be in the rooms long as you should be out hunting a sun bed!!!!

Unique Quality: Great pools
Great sports facilties and water sports
Kids clubs
Good entertainment
Very affordable
Beautiful sunsets

Just to the side of the resort is Bar Jamaica that also does good food and affordable but there is a 'beach' here that is great for the kids. Tide goes out around 1pm and reveals sand to play on and rock pools galore teeming with very small hermit crabs. Good snorkelling available as well, even for me as a novice.

The only real downside of the resort is the sun bed situation. I know its a tired old cliche but the Germans are world champions at reserving them and if you aint 'in the queue by 08:15' you wont get one until lunch time or beyond.
They arrive, or send their kids down, at 8am to cover the beds in towels, then retire for breakfast re-emerginf aorund 10ish. 2 hours later they pack up everything, except the prize towels and retire for a 2 hour lunch. Then retunrnig to finish their command of the pool between about 2 and 4pm. I kid you not. This is how it is every day.
So be warned, if you want a bed, or can cope with the floor and towels as we did, get there early!!
