The main square, coloquially called "Placa" (coming from italian piazza), is the biggest open space in the town and the centre for the local administrative buildings.
It is the place where locals gather around after the daily work, exchanging the news, informations or just to meet and chat. I still remeber scenes from my childhood here; Sunday promenades with the family, the taste of the ice-cream on my lips and the Big Band playing music loudly. Hm, those were the days.
Novi Vinodolski is an typical Mediterranean town with short and narrow streets in its central part. Most of the houses are made of stone, however, the stone is covered by the mortar nowadays. Only a few old stone houses have left in the town now. This one is situated next to the parish church.
This is one of the oldest of a kind left in town nowadays, and it is partly in the ruins. Most of the locals have built new modern houses and the old ones are deserted now, especially those in the northern part of the town in area called Krasa.
Kupalnica is the most popular beach resort in Novi Vinodolski. It is situated right in front of the hotel Lisanj. Besides swiming one can enjoy in boating, surfing, playing tennis or many other activities.
Prevoius construction was made of wood, entering deep into the sea-water, but unfortunately it was pulled down.
Unusual rocks in the water but great beach resort because where the rocks are the water is very clear. Exploring this rocks and underwater world around might be great experience. Years ago, there were a lot of fish and schells here, however, the rising tourism have changed it.
