The ¸lodging is located in Sušak, the eastern side of the town, divided from the western part by several briges over the river Rječina. It is near Hotel Continental, in Strossmayer street. The Croatian Cultural Centre on Sušak, where performances, films or concerts are sometimes held, is situated nearby.
It was built in 1941 and to-day it has one star. The capacity is 47 rooms and 105 beds. Some rooms do not have their own bathroom.
The hotel is extremely suitable as a departure point for sightseeing of the town.

Camp Preluk: In Opatija

Preluk campsite (close to Opatija) is situated in a small pine and laurel forest next to the sea and a pebbly beach. The capacity of the camp is for 500 people.
There are shops, a terrace serving grilled food, snack bar, exchange office and a disco bar in the vicinity of the campsite. Preluk is well-known as a special place for surfing because of the favourable winds which blow in that area.

Unforgettable )))

Katarina Beljan's private room

Katarina Beljan and her husband offer 3 private rooms in Rijeka. You can easily reach their house by Bus No. 7 (last station - 15 minutes from the center). It is located on the mountain part of Rijeka.
Katarina has the cleanest appartment I have ever been to! She is a very dear lady. I can recommend her to anyone.
For more info and reservation ask the Tourist Info of Rijeka.

Hotel Continental - Rijeka: I stayed there :) but I'm not recommending this!!

The hotel is an ancient piece of building. I was very surprised of the rooms. They are too old for a decent hotel. Nothing news in there. And the bathroom was a nightmare. Noise in front from the street, noise in back from the restaurant's coolers.
NOT RECOMMENDED

Internet Cafe - that's all the good news

I stayed at the Hotel Istra in Opatija. the room was very comfortable! And the view!! My goodness! A spectacular view of the Adriatic -- morning, noon and night.

The morning breakfast buffet was amazing. Really first class.

Out of the season there's no...

Out of the season there's no problem to find a stay. Just walk to the so called tourist office or ask in the restaurant. You may also ask in the village itself. I stayed in a nice house (private room) which is run by a lady from Zagreb (immigrant – LOL). As I promised you to give you an adress – here it is: Susak 2xx. It wouldn't help you if I remember the number for it's all the way Susak something. So let me tell you how to find it. Walk along the beach and as soon you'll reach the last house turn right. After 30 meters or so you'll find the house on my pic. Landlady said to me that her house is the only one in Susak which is already in Europe for she and her husband have their own homepage. Must see it, very nice with lot of pictures and useful info about Susak. http://www.sundanna.com
Oh, I almost forget: be kind and tell the landlady you've heard from me about her place. She promised me some discount when I return if I send some friends to her place. ;-)
100 kunas = 15 EUR, if you are staying longer the price is reduced. Top season is mostely booked but in May or in September there should be no problems.

Wery hostile and peacefull, just mind the cats they can be pretty loud in nights (God knows, what they are doing ;-)

If you are not comming in a top season you woul easily find a nice room for 100 kunas or so. Just try to bargain a little and you can reduce the price considerably. If you are staying longer and you are traveling in group (2 or more) the price will drop for another EUR or so.

Another Opatija hotel that...

Another Opatija hotel that I've stayed in is
GRAND HOTEL ADRIATIC.
single room with seaview 125-150 DM

It is much cheaper than Hotel Mozart (around 125 DM for a single room with seaview), but it still has this grim and a little depressing atmosphere of old Soviet style hotels (which sometimes doesn't lack a certain charme, by the way).
You won't guess it from the picture which looks great, but the floors and rooms are quite run-down, the balconies not safe to step on and you'll notice every noise your neighbour makes.
And what I'm talking about is already called the 'new wing' as there are other parts which haven't been renovated since the early 60's...
But not everything is bad here: they have a great Italian restaurant with stylish design and good pasta dishes, an own radio station in the house (!) and really friendly staff.

A jewel of a hotel: W.A....

A jewel of a hotel: W.A. MOZART!
SINGLE ROOM* 156.- 184.- DEM
DOUBLE ROOM 220.- 275.- DEM

This is the first of Opatija's historic hotels that was renovated to highest modern standards. It is a small 'grand hotel' in finest belle epoque style, extremely spacious rooms with high ceilings and balconies that offer great views of Opatija and the Adriatic - and don't forget to visit the Viennese café which has a great variety of coffee specialities. Guess whose music is played there....?
OK, prices are much higher than in any other Opatija hotel and have reached Western standards - but I think it's definitely worth it.
P.S.: No, I'm not paid by them ;-) - it's just the truth!

I think in general it is recommendable to stay in Opatija for some days and visit Rijeka by bus.
Opatija has such a great range of accommodation on all different price levels, more than Rijeka which is not a typical tourist destination.
