Autocamp San Marino, Lopar: The Campsite from Hell

Admittedly things didn't go well from the start when we missed the turn-off for Lopar. When we finally arrived the receptionist didn't want to check us in, because it was 10.05 pm. 5 minutes past closing time. "Please come back in the morning, we open at 6 o'clock." After an imploring look she relented, but boy did we regret it! There was absolutely no room at all whatsoever for our (fairly small) tent. Campervans, caravans and house-tents and not an inch between them. Around the bar area it was very noisy and the shower facilities/toilets looked crowded. Driving through to find a spot was torture. After a discussion with an Italien camper who thought we'd walked too close to his campervan "This is private!!" we gave up, got the cleaning staff to find our passports behind the reception desk and left to find a hotel.

If they have any of these (apparently the campsite is situated at a beautiful bay) you have to share them with about ten trillion people. They probably take turns at the beach. Tent spots are few and not marked and tents don't seem to be allowed in caravan spots.

Avoid at all costs to go there in August.

Might be nice off season, I don't know.
