At the beginning of September 2012 we stayed one night in the Hotel Central. We had booked a double room through booking.com for 80 Euro just a couple of days prior to our arrival.
Our double room (#207) was very clean, spacious and equipped with everything you would expect from a 3 star hotel. WiFi worked quite well in our room. The staff was friendly and even had the "In Your Pocket Guide - Zagreb" available at the reception.
A good buffet style breakfast was included in the price. It contained a bit of everything from hot meals to cereals and bread.
Directions: The Hotel Central is located more or less just across the street from the train station. A walk to the city centre (Jelacic Square) takes about 10 minutes. The tram stop "Glavni Kolodvor" can be found just in front of the hotel.
I chose Hotel Central because it's right by the railway station and it had good reviews. I found the best price on booking.com with 80 Euro for a economy double. This included a small buffet breakfast which had all the major items you wish for breakfast. Tea/coffee and orange juice was served swiftly. There is a lift and a bar. When we asked they even produced complimentary IN YOUR POCKET guides. Check-in and out was very swift.
We had room no 207 which faced the side street. When the windows were closed it was very quiet, but I could fall asleep with the windows open because of the trams on the main road. The bed was confortable, there was free wifi which was rather slow but worked. We didn't use the TV as we stayed only one night, so I don't know which channels it features. The bathroom had the shower in the bathtub, since you could put it on the hook you could stand under. It may be difficult for some people to climb into the rather high bathtub but there was a handrail. There were little soaps and shampoo. Everything was clean. Two towels per person and there was a hair dryer.
Directions: across the street from the railway station to the right
The three point hotel "Central" is situated in the city centre, right across the main railway station. It is in the vicinity of the "Lenuci horseshoe", and 5 minutes walk from the main square.
The hotel was new decorated and climatized in 2001.
Unique Quality: This hotel is suitable for those who are arriving to Zagreb by the train. It was newly refurbished and offers a very good accomodation, single room costs from 500 to 550 kuna, which is 65,00 to 72,00 euros.
Directions: Right opposite to the Central Railway Station
