Zagreb by night
by HORSCHECK
As it gets dark relatively early in Zagreb, you shouldn't miss a stroll around the town in darkness. Some historical buildings and squares of Zagreb are beautifully illuminated at night. Among them is the Jelacic Square, the Croatian National Theatre and the Fortification Towers near the cathedral (For more night shots, please have a look at my travelogue "Zagreb by night").
Visit the Old Town as well as...

Visit the Old Town as well as Kaptol. Go to a soccer game,(highly recommended: Hajduk vs. Dinamo-go at your own risk!)Go to Boban's restaurant and cafe and of course check out the cafe scene on Bogoviceva. And buy a genuine neck tie (Croatian invention) as a souvenir, handcrafted by old ladies who know how to make the most high quality, best looking ties. Visit Mirigoj, the most amazing cemetery I've ever seen! Some famous graves include Drazen Petrovic (the nba's greatest ever european player). Yeah that's right hang out at a cemetery. Seriously though its something to see. After frolicking in the cemetery go to the nearby Maksimir zoo. I miss the women and the alcohol/cafe scene.
Zagreb - Gas lights
by Martin_S.
Near St. Mark's Square, you can find the old city hall and here you will also find as the sun sets that they light the gas lights. We did not have time to stay and see the lights at night, but it should be somewhat different than neon, what do you think..
Trg Bana Josipa Jelacica

This is the picture of the squareI did in the first week of January 2003.
The town of Zagreb, under the snow, is particularly attractive, many says at that time Zagreb is a real beauty, howevr, it might be a real nightmare too. You cannot walk throughout the streets or drive your car coz the cleaning of the snow sometimes gets very slow.
Since 2005 it is the part of World ski-tour, come and enjoy in the most spectacular slalom-race that exist. Have you seen Janica in the second race, January 5th 2006, she was just incredible, lost her right ski-stick and glove right after first port and yet she did second best time in the second race.
Take a stroll
by acemj
Zagreb is a town that invites a stroll through its streets. Looking at a map in a guidebook doesn't always tell you how big a city is and how easy it is to walk. Well, let me tell you that Zagreb is a great place to see on foot. The weather was pretty cold while I was there and occasionally, it was nice to duck into a building to get out of the cold, but nonetheless we explored good portions of the Upper and Lower Towns on foot quite comfortably.
