Is there a campsite in ayia napa.Ive heard it is closed can ne one help.Or can ne one help me with cheap accommodation. leaving 13th june

Re: camping

by 13soulman

You can go in the center of Ayia Napa around and find many rooms to let, which are very cheap. Hire a bike to move around otherwise you won't see all the sandy beaches. I would recommend you also Anonymous Hotel on Sancy Bay Beach, but it costs around CYP20,- per person in a double room per day.

Travel Tips for Ayia Napa

Water Jet Bikes.

by Maeniel

First off, for those who are not aware of what a Jet-Bike is, it is a basically a bike on water. It runs slightly different however, so you will spend the first ten minutes getting a feel for it on the water.

Then you start to get to have some fun. This vehicle can go at speeds exceeding the speed limit of ground based vehicles. It is kind of cool remembering that you are going faster than what cars are allowed to do.

After you have your footing, you then start to appreciate the finer things on your trip, such as the view of the coast line from the sea, getting a good look at hidden bays and beaches. The water of the Mediterranean has a wonderful blue colour to it, giving all of the landscapes you will see a fantastic base.

OK - now the bad news: £25 CP will get you half an hour. Worth it, at least once, provided money is not too tight. Do not bring your best set of clothing. Bear this in mind especially with trainers/footwear. The safety regulations stipulate footwear is required to Jet-Bike here and the sea-water is good at ruining the stitching of shoes, etc. Soooo.... bring an old disposable pair that you don't mind ruining.

Nice Waiters and really cheap

by gigina about Sacramento Restaurant

If you don't want to spend a lot of money, I suggest you visit the Sacramento Restaurant. It's very cheap but you get good food. Well done to its waiters cause they are really nice with the people.

Tip: Complimenting your dinner, don't miss out on ordering a caraffe of their home-made sangria. Really Delicious.

The town of Agia Napa

by globetrott

Agia Napa - just another lousy tourist-place! I did not really like this town very much, except for the interesting monastery and the other few places that I mentioned above. The village seems to consist only of restaurants, discos, nightclubs, souvenirshops, tattoo-studios etc.
This town seems to be the favorite place for scandinavian and british tourists, and even at the beginning of November it was really very hot there and a perfect weather for a day on the beach.

"An Unfortunate Reputation"

Once upon a time Ayia Napa used to be a small fishing village. In the summers of 2000 and 2001 it gained a reputation as a clubbers paradise. In 2002, however, a change of mayor has led to a clampdown on drugs and loud music. We saw families in the Square at night when we were there this month. Two years ago they would have found alternative destinations.

A 'Holiday Which' Report on Ayia Napa being a holiday not spot received coverage in the Times Newspaper. Things have been blown out of all proportion. Admittedly there have been a couple of incidents this year - but I am sure that your average Saturday night out in a town or city centre will bring more problems than Ayia Napa has! I still felt safe in the resort at night and the only problem I had was believing how quiet things were compared to when I worked in the area.

There is still a harbour from which fisherman work, but there is also an influx of tourist boats offering trips along the coast. Also on the outer boundaries you will still find the farmers who relied on the land for their income.

The main historical landmark within the resort is the 16th Century Venetian Monastery. This is a haven of peace and tranquility within the square area.
