Grecian Park - Heaven!!!
by TripAdvisor Member torialeen
We initially stayed at the Grecian Park Hotel, Cyprus, Protaras May 15 - May 29 2005 - we then went back for the same 2 weeks in 2006 - and had the same great experience! We have nothing but praise for the hotel, its services and its staff. When we arrived the porter took our bags straight to our room, we were given our keys to the room straight away, and was welcomed enormously. Our other guests had a child and they were most concerned with getting him comfortable first - Cypriots are great with children.
Our room was wonderfully clean, had a great view. We are big tea and coffee drinkers and whenever we ran out, we called reception and they were refilled at no extra cost within 5 minutes (Bicsuits included!). The reception staff were always extremely helpful whenever we had a question. The gentleman on the reception on nights was the nicest man we ever met. He was always interested in whether we were having a great time, if he could help and generally interested in us and our family as people. We were there to get married (with our guests paying seperately - even paying guests were treated the same - they didn't identify themselves as guests of our wedding and were still treated brilliantly).
Before booking we searched the internet for the best deals on the hotel, which we found on the eclipse direct website. As they were part of first choice we then booked the wedding package with the first choice weddings team. They also gave us a fantastic deal. They provided us with the services of a wedding planner, photographer, sorted out the legal matters, cake included, flowers included etc. They made it all so easy. The hotel itself had put congratulations cards in the room for our arrival along with wine and fruit. Before the wedding the hotel wedding co-ordinator came to see us to let us choose the music for our wedding. They did a fantastic buffet (hot and cold) for £5 a head - there was so much we couldn't eat it all. The manager was there to oversee every aspect of our wedding. He presented us with gifts at the wedding, we were given a gift by the registrar and another gift from the photographer. We had the proofs of our wedding photo's back within 2 hours, and they turned out fantastic. There were just so many other services I cannot list them. The morning after the wedding we had our champagne breakfast, continental food, cooked breakfast, tea, coffee etc. All the hot food that was cooked food was hot, and presented immaculately.
Our wedding was perfect. The hotel, wedding planner and service providers worked together to create a great day with no problems at all. Everything was to the highest standard and quality. On the second day of our arrival, the Manager asked to see us, he asked if there was anything he could do to make our stay more special, and asked us to choose the meals for our canlelit dinner to ensure it was ready when we arrived at the restaurant, and asked us to pick the day and time. We had our complimentary candlelit meal and the service was great. When we arrived at the restaurant our table was ready, we were asked to choose our complimentary champagne or wine. The staff bought it out in an ice bucket and refilled our glasses throughout the night. The first course came in good time and they didn't rush us. They checked we were ready before bringing our next course, and checked all through to see if the food was alright. The service was amazing and so was the setting.Whenever we had a drink or ate in the hotel the service was quick and efficient. The same applied to room service, the food was always to the highest standard and in good time. The hotel even sent us a Christmas card with vouchers for our next stay.
All in all Protaras and the hotel were great. Great rooms, great staff, great everything, and I recommend it thoroughly. If anyone is getting married there or thinking of getting married there and wants to see an example of the wedding pics or any other questions. please email me, (vabrahams@ic24.net) I'll be happy to send a pic to you. We are returning for our first anniversary and can't wait to go back. Please do not listen to the unfavourable reviews - you can't please everyone and going there with the attitude that it won't be great is asking for an unpleasant stay. I guess some people have different ideas about what is 5 star hotel - this defintely is. It is a recognised Summit Group hotel - this means it is great quality and audited for standards and quality regularly! Have a great time.
Excellent Holiday & Wonderful Wedding!

I went to the Grecian Park Hotel from the 13th May – 27th May 2007. We went to the Grecian Park to get married.
Hotel
The hotel is absolutely amazing. The rooms are all white inside and are very well cleaned. We paid for the sea view room and it’s definitely worth the extra money! Because we were getting married we had a queen size bed instead of twin beds. The room also had electric blinds with a button right next to the bed and a Samsung flat screen TV! We also got dressing gowns and slippers. There were tea and coffee making facilities and also a fully stocked mini bar. We also arrived to fruit, flowers and wine as we were a wedding couple which was nice.
The grand foyer is really nice. There is a lady that plays the piano in there in the evening and loads of sofas you can sit on. The pool area is lovely, there are plenty of sunbeds. There is a pool bar you can get drinks, smoothies and food and there is even a waiter service around the pool if you can’t be bothered to get up! Café Charisma is also by the pool which sells a wider variety of food than the pool bar. There is a main restaurant which is very nice, we only went bed and breakfast but we did meet some people who were half board and they said the food was amazing. I’d say that all of the drinks and food in the hotel and in Cyprus in general are English prices. You would be looking at £2cyp (£2.30gb) for a local beer (Keo) or a Carlsberg and wine starts from £7cyp at the hotel for a bottle.
Beach
The beach is beautiful. It’s about a 5-10 minutes walk down a cliff to it but the views are lovely and it’s a nice walk. Coming up can be a bit of a struggle though when it’s hot! It is a small secluded beach, the sand is nice and the water is crystal clear. There is also a restaurant down there and water sports.
Wedding
When we got on the coach at the airport when we arrived we were given a letter from our wedding co-ordinator Jackie detailing a meeting time, what time our wedding was and when we had to go to the town hall to get our marriage licence. It was all very well organised. When we booked the holiday with First Choice we requested a later wedding but we were given 12.45pm by the town hall. When we met Jackie she went through everything with us, Flowers, etc. She took us down to where the ceremony was going to be and went through everything. You then have to meet the hotel manager, Anglos to arrange everything the hotel provided, e.g. the reception. He was very helpful. He took us to the marquee and showed us all around. We did want the bigger marquee but couldn’t have it as there was another wedding booked for 3.00pm and they had a bigger party (we only had 13 people including us). He took us to the smaller marquee which was beautiful and had excellent views. We picked our meal, you have set menus to pick from but he is happy for you to mix and match and also cater for vegetarians. Everything was sorted and it was all very easy. We went to see Anglos the day before we got married, he was aware we would have rather got married later. He advised us that the 3pm wedding was cancelled. He phoned our wedding coordinator on her day off to see if she could ring the town hall on the Monday morning to change the time. He also asked us if we wanted the bigger marquee now as it was a bit more secluded. On our wedding morning we got a text from our wedding coordinator stating she had changed the time to 3pm!! We were really happy about that and it was lovely to see that both the hotel manager and coordinator went to lot of effort to change the time for us. I got my nails, make up and hair done at the hotel. The hair was £45cyp and this included a trial, the hairdresser Hayley was excellent and I was so happy with my hair. The lady that did my make up and nails was called Augusta, she was lovely and did an excellent job. The nails cost £24cyp and the make up was £40cyp but this also included a trial. Jackie arrived about an hour earlier and helped put my husbands buttonhole on etc. She then went and got everybody sat down and then came to get me! The ceremony was perfect, infact the whole day was wonderful. There are not any faults or complaints I can make about anything! The ceremony and pictures lasted about an hour, we then went to the cliff bar for about1 ½ hours to cut the cake etc. At 5.30 a waiter came to get us to go to our meal. The food at the meal was lovely. You have about 3-4 waiters dedicated to our table all evening and you are never rushed. If you wanted you could stay there all night! The man who did our photos (George) was brilliant; he delivered the proofs back to us within a couple of hours! All the photos were excellent and it was very hard to pick 24, infact we had to upgrade to 36!! It cost an extra £85cyp to have all the proofs and negatives so we decided not to have them, but when the album arrived the day before we went home he had given us all the proofs and negatives free and even picked a picture and put it in a silver frame for us! We had a complimentary candlelit dinner at the hotel, once again this was fantastic.
Location
The hotel is in the middle of a national park, it’s about a 5 minute drive to Protaras and a 10 minute drive to Ayia Napa, there is a supermarket and little Italian restaurant outside the hotel. This hotel is very secluded but the views are amazing as it’s in Cape Greco. It’s probably best to hire a car as taxis can be expensive (about £7cyp one way to Ayia Napa). I would strongly recommend a visit to the hotels Japanese restaurant Umi, its lovely and there is a lot of choice even if you don’t like raw fish. I would definitely pay a visit to Sage, Los Banditos and Fiji in Ayia Napa, all are such lovely restaurants! And also if you want to try the local Meze then Nicolas restaurant in Protaras is excellent. There is also a taverna on the road to Ayia Napa called Limnara Tavern, this does lovely food and the owner Andreas is lovely, we had lunch there about 5 times!
I cannot say enough about this hotel, it is perfect and there are no bad points!!! Our wedding coordinator was excellent and made our day stress free and fun. If you have booked your wedding here then you will have a magical day and if you are looking at getting married here or even going on holiday then book it!! This hotel is worth its 5 stars and in my opinion (after walking through a few other 4-5 stars) this is the best hotel on the east side of Cyprus. stunning views, excellent hospitality, clean and friendly
by TripAdvisor Member welshchicka
We stayed at this hotel from 26th July - 9th August for our honeymoon. The hotel is in a quiet location, but there was bus stops right outside the hotel to go to Aiya Napa (10 mins away)and Protaras (5 mins away), the buses are suppost to run every 15mins but it was more like every 30mins, and Sundays every hour even longer. The hotel does provide a free return bus service to Aiya Napa everyday apart from Sundays and bank holidays.
All staff at the hotel were friendly and couldn't do enough for you.
Our room was cleaned everyday to a very high standard, and clean towels given everyday. You are also given additional towels to use at the pool and beach everyday. I knew the hotel was going to be expensive, but didnt realise just how expensive.
The faciities at the hotel were worth the 5* rating, the gym was good with excellent equipment, there's tennis courts, health and spa facilities, which I would recommend having a massage. The indoor pool was always quiet and the outdor pool was a lovely size and never gets to full, there are also plenty of loungers
I would highly recommend staying at the hotel on B&B basis only because there are so many lovely resturants in Protaras and Aiya Napa to choose from, that it would be a real drag eating at the hotel for everymeal. The prices to eat out are similar to back home, but the food was a much higher standard. Try the resturant in Protaras opposite the Dinky Donaught stand, I can't remember the name of it but the food is lovely especially the Stifado. The only meal we ate at the hotel was in the Japanese resturant. I would recommend eating here, again exspensive but worth it for the stunning views and lovely food.
I seen at least 9 weddings at the hotel during our stay, but it was nice to see them and you only caught a brief glimpse. I can see why people choose this hotel for weddings, being on a cliff top it has stunning views and the food smelled lovely.
The nightlife in Protaras was quieter than anywhere Ive been before, there are mainly karoke bars and 2 nightclubs which dont open until 1.00am or later. But there's always Ayia Napa where your spoilt for choice. I would rather stay in a quieter location and travel to the nightlife. If you want to stay in Aiya Napa but dont want to be kept awake all night then stay at the Grecian Bay (however no where near as nice as the Grecian Park) or the Mermaid as both hotels were in nice, quieter locations in Aiya Napa with only a 5 minute walk to the lively areas.
Overall I would highly recomend the Greican Park Hotel, ok it may not be a 5* UK rating but in our opinion it is the best hotel in the area. If it's stuning views, excellent facilities, clean, modern rooms and friendly staff you are looking for then you can't go wrong with this hotel.
The ultimate in chilled relaxation

We have been to Cyprus on may occasions and wanted to try some place that was slightly different. The Hotel Grecian Park fit the bill perfectly.
Hotel Location:
First things first, the hotel is situated at the top of a cliff mid way between Protaras and Ayia Napa overlooking the Cape Greco National Park. The Location means that almost evey bedroom has a nice view, with most having some sort of sea view. This is a secluded spot and is probably about 3.5 to 4 miles from the centre of Protaras and 5 or 6 miles from Ayia Napa. You need a car or taxi to get to either. The hotel has an arrangement with the local taxi company and costs 5.00 CPS to get to either. There is also a bus stop outside the hotel. The hotel also runs its own bus to its sister hotel in Ayia Napa - The Grecian Bay every 2 hours or so.
The Beach can be reached by means of some steps which take you down to the bottom of the cliff but be warned, its a long way down and even if you are fit, you will be exhausted. The beach is small and quiet, but very nice.
Its not all total isolation though as there are still a few local restaurants nearby. There is also the Cape Bar next door to the hotel which is more of a Pub (good for catching the football matches).
Hotel Rooms:
The rooms are clean and comfortable. The first thing that strikes you is that they are white (white walls white headboard, covers and blinds). This is very impressive as the standard of cleanliness needed to keep the rooms this way needs to be high, and thankfully it is. The blinds are also operated by an electric switch with adds to the 5 star feel of the place. You get a good size bathroom, T.V (limited English chanels) tea/coffee making facilities and hairdryer. Overall I was very happy. with the room.
Pool and Beach:
Spotless and clean. The Pool is wonderful - especially at night when it is lit up, and very well maintained. The sunbeds are located round the pool and also in the garden areas. It was very easy to get a sunbed at any time of day so no need to play the "get your towel on a bed by 7.00am" game. There is an area outside the lobby and the hotel bar where comfy chairs are provided so that you can enjoy a drink in luxury at any time. The pool is serviced by a bar and a cafe/restaurant serving snacks and healthy salads.
Dining
Fantastic. Dining takes place in two main restaurants. One serving the buffet style breakfast. The breakfast consisted of a fairly standard selection of hot and cold food. The food was of good quality but did lack variaty, but no complaints overall.
There is the larger restaurant next door in which the main meals are served. You have a large choice from the various menus and the quality and service was first class.
Finally, the hotel has the "Umi" Japanese Restaurant which is located on the 4th floor. The Restaraunt serves a blend of traditional fish (raw) dishes and modern creations. Words can not describe just how good the food here is - ITS A REAL FIND - YOU MUST TRY IT!. I honestly have eaten some of the best food I have ever tasted here, and its location means that you have a view to die for.
Bars
The hotel has a lobby area which is a large open marble room with comfortable chairs for you to relax in. There is an air of relaxation with runs all the way through this impressive hotel.
There is also the main bar which is a sort of coctail bar. This was beautiful, with seating available inside and out. There is usually live music here every night (a resident duo who were in fact not too bad - believe me this is a compliment as entertainment in Cyprus is notoriously how shall we say.....crap).
And then thre is the ultimate hidden gem, the Cliff Bar. Located as its name says overlooking the Cliff . This is a wonderful relaxed bar which has been created using a decked out area hidden in the trees and garden. The theme here is purely relaxation, sitting on big comfy chairs and sofas with large cushions. There is relaxing chilled music playing whilst you sit under the glow of stars and low level lighting sipping the most wonderful coctails. Absolute heaven.
Reception:
The staff are very good, speak wonderful English and are always helpful.
Summary:
Facilities at the Grecian Park are first class. The restaurants and bars are wonderful (the Cliff Bar and Umi Restuarant are astonishing - really..... they are that good!).
The location of this hotel may make or break the holiday for you, so think about what you want. If you want a quiet get away from the crowds holiday with total relaxation, then this is the place for you. If you like to get out and sample a few bars, then you might find this a bit too remote although a 10 minute taxi journey will get you to 2 of the liveliest resorts in Eurpoe.
There is no doubting the 5 star rating of the hotel. It is fully worthy of this and a quick glance through some of the other reviews will tell you that the hotel will satisfy most needs.
Whilst I'm on the subject of other reviews you will have probably seen comments about the prices. If I am being picky, I could say that as with most 5 star hotels, you will have to be prepared to pay some silly prices for food and drink - it is about 2.80 CPS for a pint of local beer or a coffee - yes thats about 3.30 UK Pounds. Most coctails are priced at 4.00 CYP. I did feel that this was expensive, but as I've said, thats the norm for 5 star. If this bothers you then you probably should look else where.
Overall this was a wonderfull hotel boasting first class facilities and a wonderfull location.
Perfect!

Hi,
stayed there 2 times already; if you want 5 stars in a very quiet area, you are completely right!
Consider, that there are about 5 minutes walk down to the beach and Aya Napa about 10 minutes drive away, (thats where the action is), so you should calculate the need for a car rental, if you dont want to stay put!
If you want a more central situated hotel, close to the beach and other areas of activity, rather choose its sister-hotel Grecian BAY(!) in Aya Napa
