Wonderful time at the Grecian sands
Just returned from a two week stay at the Grecian sands hotel, Ayia napa, Cyprus.
Not only were we lucky enough to spend two weeks in Cyprus we had the joy of being married at the hotel.
From the moment we arrived we were looked after by some extremely friendly staff.
The wedding could'nt have gone any better.
I recommend to anyone thinking of marrying abroard to get some details from the website as it is magnificent.
The Hotel itself is located right on Grecian beach and is great for watersports.
In the time we were there we went jet sking, paragliding and banana boating.
The hotel is in walking distance of the town square but not to close to be disturbed by the nightlife.
Me and my now wife will definatley visit this hotel in the future and so will many of the 33 guests that travelled with us for our wedding.
Susanne, if you happen to read this then we would like to thank you again for all your help.
Kevin and Hayley Channon
Grecian Sands was Fantastic!!
The travel agent recommended the Grecian Sands to us as it specialised in weddings and that was what we wanted. The bus journey was about an hour from the airport and we found that when we got there was a minibus to take us and there were only about 3 other couples to be dropped off and we were the 1st.
When we arrived the porter from the hotel came out and lifted our suitcases and took them up to our room which was lovely. Our 1st impressions of the hotel was how big and clean it looked and there was marble everywhere.
Our room had a massive bed, a balconey, mini bar, safety deposit box and air conditioning, the rooms were cleaned everyday. We were met by our wedding co-ordinator the 2nd day and she took us through all the wedding info we needed and we had a meeting with the hotel manager about our wedding that day too. He took down every detail from putting favours out on the tables at our reception to what suite we wanted to use to what exactly our wedding meal would be. He asked about music and gave us pointers on other details we werent sure about, Also at this stage we booked our complimentary champagne breakfast and candlelit dinner.
The hotel is B&B and there is a great selection of food from hot food to continental breakfast, cereal and juice. The pool area is lovely and we could always get a sunbed and umbrella no matter what time of day we went out. Just off the pool area there is a sandy area with sunbeds and umbrellas and then just down the steps from that is the beach, it is so close and there are water sports on the beach and plenty of cafes near by.
The hotel itself is in a great location, it is about a 15-20 min walk down to the main square and you will pass restaurants and bars on the way, we would recommend the Erofili run by Theo and the chinese restaurant on down opposite the Rodders bar.
Our wedding day was perfect we could not fault the hotel on anything the timings were all perfect, and the meal was beautiful. We had 2 staff on hand the whole time who continuously filled up peoples glasses with wine and even encouraged the children to sit and eat! The manager was very kind to set us up a table at the hotel's cyprus night and our wedding party joined in on all the fun and dancing, they even played a song for my husband and I's 1st dance.
Ayia napa is a fantastic resort with so much to do for adults and children, the waterpark is a great day out and we also hired out a beach buggy which is a handy way of getting about.
We had a fantastic holiday/wedding/honeymoon at the Grecian Sands and we have booked it again next year for our 1st anniversary.
our family made up of 2 oap's,2teenagers and 2 middleaged parents spent 2 weeks at the grecian sands and i have to say it was wonderful,we did have a problem with 2other guest annoying our daughters but the hotel managment dealt with it swiftly and changed their accommodation the food was brill, location fantastic suited everyone!!! the beach and pool area clean and no problems getting beds.the staff were more than helpful and very friendly would use this hotel again
Paradise in Europe
I got married in the Grecian Sands hotel on Friday 7th Sept 2007. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The hotel room we were given (214) had a lovely sea view and it was a beautiful scene. As I was unfamiliar of getting married!!!!! The Guest Relations Manager contacted us to assist us throughout our stay. We stayed for 3 weeks and it was the best time our our lives. The sun, sea and sand holiday of a lifetime was perfected by the friendly staff and lovely surroundings. Susanne is a credit to the hotel.
We have just arrived back from our Wedding / Honeymoon at the Grecian Sands Hotel. Our Wedding was better than we could ever have imagined. The location of the hotel is excellent, just being a 15 minute walk into Ayia Napa and also having the beach on it's door step we would highly recommend.
Prior to the wedding our wedding co-ordinator Suzzane arranged almost everything on our behalf and is a credit to the hotel.
Our Travel Agent Rep also arranged the DVD, photographer and Flowers and also did an excellent job.
Our actual Wedding took place at the Grecian Sands which was perfect, we were married on the seaview deck and had our reception/ meal and disco in various other rooms in the hotel which was great.
The wedding day meal was of an excellent standard and was throughly enjoyed by all as well as the champagne and wine which was flowing althrough the day.
The hotel is popular for weddings but the co-ordinator never mixes two weddings together and on our wedding day we never knew another wedding would have taken place, the weddings also do not intrude on the hotels guests either.
The actual hotel will be in need soon of a refurb intotal but is very clean and tidy with good facilities, staff are very friendly as is the management who contributed to what we can honestly say as a memorable wedding and honeymoon.
got married at the grecian sands on the 5th of july on the sea view deck had a sit down meal for our 19 guest food was really good camera man was great ,dvd man was great ,wedding co ordinator was great . a dream wedding .hotel was clean staff were friendly couldnt do enough for us pool was fab beach was fab i would recommend it to anyone holiday, wedding ,honeymoon, whateva it was great .we stayed for 2 weeks with our 2 children 10 of our guest stayed aswell they all loved it we are all going back next year for our first anniversary we have booked already and cant wait kelly and tony xxxx
Great wedding location
I had my wedding reception at this hotel and all I can say is thank you suzanne for making a bad situation good!
we actually stayed in the grecian park (the sister hotel) but they were unfriendly and unaccomadating so we went the grecian sands for our wedding reception and I would reccomend this venue to anyone!!
Suzanne was one of the most friendlist people that I dealt with (also cant forget su, my olmpic wedding planner) after finding out that I couldnt have my reception at my chosen venue in the sister hotel I was gutted I just called in to see what this hotel was like, suzanne brought me around all the different venues and I couldnt have been more pleased we had a BBQ in a wooden gazebo decorated in my colours that overlooked the sea!!
then in the evening we had a disco downstairs in a soundproofed room ( I wasnt really that keen on the idea to begin with but it turned out fantasic and it only cost 150.
also the reception staff in this hotel were so friendly (we stayed the night of the wedding, our room was fab with a great view!!)
so to the owners of the Grecain group suzanne & su (olympic) r a credit to your chain you need to have a look at the staff in the Grecian park they could do with brushing up on there people skills
Superb Hotel and staff!!!!
We got married and stayed at the Grecian Sands Hotel in August 06 and have just returned from our second visit which was our first anniversary. On both visits we were extremely pleased with the hotel itself, facilities, food and the excellent service given by all the team.
August 06 – Upon arrival we were greeted and informed of who we were to see and when, regarding making preparations. We were shown to our room which was a side sea view which I would have been happy with but then we got upgraded as promised, if available to a full sea view room – wow! The view was breathtaking. The rooms were very modern, clean and spacious. We met with Amy our Thomas Cook Wedding Planner who was first class. Nothing was too much for her and she was always available and very approachable. Met with Avraam the hotel manager who was fantastic to discuss venues for the wedding and reception. Me and my now husband, Paul are very picky and pay a lot of attention to detail with everything and this being our wedding wanted the best – Avraam came up trumps making sure we had everything that we wanted and that we had a perfect wedding – it was! We had 45 guests for the wedding who were staying at other hotels and the staff at Grecian treated them as if they were there own guests. We could not have wished for anything more on the day and this was all captured on dvd by Gill and Steve who Amy recommended and she was right the special effects were fab! Gill and Steve were a lovely couple, down to earth and friendly. After getting married on the grounds overlooking the sea we cut the cake in the bar area and went on a horse and carriage ride. This I thought was quite pricey as only out for a short while but worth every penny as it was probably the best part of the day and the only time that we got to spend on our own. Parading through Ayia Napa we felt like royalty as everyone waved and clapped as you passed. We had our sit down meal in the Posiden which then turned into a disco after the speeches. The party was in full swing until the last guests had gone (which were me and Paul as we didn’t want the day to end).
August 07 – Arrived to a very warm welcome as the staff remembered us from last year. Avraam heard that we had arrived and sent up a bottle of champagne to our room which was a great start to our holiday. On our anniversary we asked for something special and again the staff (incl Kyriacos and Andreas) provided A1 service exceeding our expectations, it was sooooo romantic. This was going to be our last visit for a while as we like to visit other countries but since returning home last week have decided to go back again next year for our second anniversary because we know that the hotel has everything that you need for a great holiday – fantastic facilities and décor (very modern), great location right by the beach (far enough away from the square but only a 20 minute walk for your party nights), great food and most importantly friendly, helpful staff.
Overall if you are getting married or even just holidaying in Cyprus and want 5 star service for a 4 star price then we highly recommend the Grecian Sands Hotel!!!
We have just returned from our wedding at the Grecian Sands Hotel. We had the most wonderful time and would strongly recommend anyone thinking of marrying abroad to go to this hotel.
We went for two weeks and our wedding day wasn't until the Tuesday of the second week so we had plenty of time to get everything organised. We needn't have worried though because after the first day of us being there everything had been sorted out..We met with Jo our Thomas Cook wedding co-ordinator.She went through all our paperwork with us, showed us examples of the photographs and dvds available, and all the general information we needed.Steve who did the dvd was great. He was really friendly and did an amazing job.Our photographs turned out brilliantly too.We got the proof album the day after the wedding for us to pick which ones we wanted and got the finished album 2 days after that.We recieved our finished dvds 2 days after the wedding and Steve came to the hotel to show it to us.Jo met us the next day at the town hall when we went to arrange the marriage certificate and waited with us till everything was sorted out.She even arranged a taxi to take us there which i thought was a nice touch. She was always on hand if we had any worries or queries and is a real credit to Thomas Cook.
We then had a meeting with the hotel wedding co-ordinator Susanne. She was brilliant.Really friendly and instantly put our minds at ease as we had been unsure as to what sort of reception we wanted. She showed us all the possible venues then advised us based on our needs. We only had 20 guests including children so we wanted something small. In the end we chose the seaview deck to get married and the Venus suite for our reception. It was fully air conditioned and had been decorated superbly in our colour scheme. The meal was also wonderful and all our guests commented on how nice it was. There were always two staff on hand filling peoples glasses which was nice.
As we didn't get married till 4pm we had our meal about 6.30pm and stayed till about 10pm.We then moved into the bar for more drinks.
The hotel itself is wonderful. All the staff are really friendly and they made a fuss of our young son who is 2.
The hotel was always clean and tidy. Our room was cleaned devery day and fresh towels were left daily. The pool area was really nice.It never got too busy so you could always get a sunbed and the pool itself never got crowded so it was really good for young children.
We stayed half board. There was always a great choice for breakfast.Everything from the full english to yoghurt and fruit if you wanted to be a bit healthier! There were always highchairs available and at the evening meal there was always one put at our table ready for us.The service from all the staff was impeccible.Especially George who our son took a real shine to.
All in hall we had a fantastic holiday and wedding and would definately return to this hotel.Every other couple who we spoke to who had been married there was of the same opinion as us.If you're getting married abroad do it the Grecian Sands!
