Monastery and Limanaki
by inqanta
Ayia Napa is a club center. But anyway you have to visit Ayia Napa Monastery. I don't really know its history but it's really beautiful. And of course garden on its territory. There is small fountain, too old to work and beautiful trees and bushes.
The second place you will visit anyway is Limanaki - or Harbour. It's not so beautiful itself but in the evening you will have a great opportunity to take photos of it. There is a little green lighthouse and the moon is extremely bright at this place.
THE LIMANAKI AREA FISH TAVERNAS AND RESTAURANTS

THE FISHING RESTAURANTS AND TAVERNAS
AT THE LIMANAKI AREA
(Limanaki means small port)
Here at the port area, Vassos Taverna, or Faros Beach Taverna and the one opposite the boats (main picture) are all nice Restaurants. I suggest that you try them one evening out.
They are kind of more expensive and where it comes to fish or lobsters the bill can get really expensive. If you want a special night out I would recommend any of the three.
I have eaten one or two evenings out here, the service was great and the people very kind.
The one in the main photo which is next to the boats is also a Snack and Cocktail Bar and Cafe so I suggest that you come and have a snack or an ice cream here and ask for the price list for either lunch or dinner.
The view is great in all three Restaurants, which will pay you off whether you have an ice cream, a snack or a proper menu.
Try eating cheaper in more centrally Restaurants. I had a Grilled fish,
A fried Kalamari, and a Mixed Green Cypriot Salad.
I enjoyed the meal because both the Kalamari and the Fish seemed very fresh to us.
Beach Paradise

My favourite beach within the boundaries of Ayia Napa is Macronossis Beach. It is a little further from the main centre of the resort and as a result is a little less crowded than beaches such as Limanaki and Nissi Beach.
The beach has a small snackbar and shop for refereshments when those that you brought with you get warm under the heat of the midday sun. There is also a range of watersports available. My first visit to the beach was with my Cypriot friend. It was a peaceful spot after partying away most of the previous night (and much of the early hours of that morning). My first thought when I arrived was to boost my caffeine levels. Really I should have been out looking for a job but at the time that was the last thing on my mind.
Thanks for introducing me to this beach my friend! It's one of the best things you could have done.
AYIA NAPA WITH PARADISE-LIKE BEACHES!

"MOST POPULAR DESTINATION IN SUMMER"
Originally a small fishing village, but now has become a major tourist centre.
Its name is derived from a Venetian-era monastery that has the same name. The actual word – Ayia Napa- means Holy wooded –valley. The area surrounding the town was covered with thick forest in ancient times.
It is one of the most popular destinatios south-eastern of Cyprus. Holidaymakers who are looking for a lively vacation come here every year. Over 250.000 clubbers swarm into this party capital every summer and the phenomenal atmosphere in its scores of bars and nightclubs is nothing short of explosive. Apart from being a family holiday destination, it has become a ‘Party Capital’, particulary popular with U.K. citizens.
POPULAR BEACHES
NISSI BEACH and NISSI BAY are two amazing popular beaches in the area just 2 miles west of Agia Napa. Nissi beach is a party spot, with loud music and lots of young people.
Beautiful crystal turguoise waters where the challenge is to leap from the rocks in the sea at CAPE OF GRECO. This is found on the east of Ayia Napa.
Another one is THE NEW GOLDEN BAY, or LANTA beach as it is known by the locals. It is a less busy beach with a number of activities available.
PANTAHOU beach, one of the longest beaches of Cyprus, and the longest beach in Ayia Napa, caters more for families and is a more relaxing beach.
LIMANAKI beach at the harbour is very popular with nice Restaurants, but quite expensive.
THE MONASTERY OF AYIA NAPA
The Monastery of Ayia Napa was built in 1500 which is the best known landmark of the area. It seems that in ancient times the location where the monastery and the village exists today, was covered with a thick forest, and was visited only by hunters from the neighbouring villages. Ayia Napa vestiges of its cultural heritage.
THE FESTIVAL
The Ayia Napa Festival is an annual event since 1985.
It takes place in Sepheris Square in the Monastery. These festivities reflect the historic, cultural and agricultural traditions of the village with theatrical performances and concerts, as well as Cypriot and foreign folk dancing.
