strange trafic-signs
by globetrott
It took me a few seconds before I understood this strange combination of trafic-signs, that would never be placed next to each other in another part of Europe according to my experience. The red ring around the white centre will normally mean that ALL vehicles, including the bicycles are forbidden in that side-road,but in Cyprus I saw more of such unlogical combinations.
The other thing that was confusing in that situation is the fact that I am used to driving right and so normally that sign of "No trafic" would be for the mainroad and for me, BUT Cyprus is driving on the left and so these signs are ment for the side-street on the right !

Aiya Napa in May
by excessex
"Aiya Napa for Real"
My girlfriend and I saw a deal advertised in a sunday 'paper and jumped at it. It was 2 weeks in Aiya Napa for two, self-catering all inclusive for £360!
So we booked, selecting from a range of accomodation options, the Paul Marie Hotel Apartments.
Now, for some, the more regular 'tourist' apartment complexes might be a better choice, but for us staying in a two-bedroom apartment away from the main hotel block was perfect as it was pretty much like living there. The other people in adjoining blocks and aprtments were resident so we managed to miss the tourist experience altogether and just get a taste for being a resident.
"Clubs and that"
Of course, Napa is famed for clubbing and there are lots of them but whether it was because we came in late may-early june just before the main season or because clubbing has become safe anyway, I found the DJ's and clubs not pushing any limits.
I haven't really bee n clubbing anywhere recently, including London, for similar reasons, so this is not really a criticism of Napa, more of the clubbing scene in general.
The great thing is that there's so much competition in the town so you can get all kinds of brilliant free admission and drinks deals going.
Recommend you pre-club at the Sky Bar which has the best people-watching viewpoint.
I didn't check out The Castle which is supposed to be the best club in terms of facilities. But I did hang out at Havana Bar which is the pre-club for Black and White, which is probably the best bet for atmosphere. This crew also run the daytime Beach Bar at Nissi Beach which is an essential visit.
