More about Napa Mermaid Hotel
Just back from the Napa Mermaid a few days ago and can`t wait till we go back in September.
This hotel is situated in a beautiful location facing the sea and only a five minute walk from a "Blue Flag" beach. The centre of Ayia Napa is a 15 minute leisurely stroll.
It has just recently had a major renovation to a very high standard and the designers have created beautiful contemporary surroundings from the beautiful bedrooms through to the elegant reception and dining areas.
The food is terrific and even I, a very fussy eater, found the quality and choices made for an excellent dining experience. Friendly and attentive staff all add to the enjoyment of the holiday.
I would strongly recommend this hotel and can say this through experience as I have stayed at many hotels in Ayia Napa and none come near the Napa mermaid and hence I return to it twice a year.
My daughter got married in the Napa Mermaid and it was wonderful. The hotel is beautiful and just the right setting for a wedding. The ceremony, reception, flowers, cake and hairdresser were all arranged by Christos and the staff of the hotel and everything was just perfect.
Everywhere in the hotel is absolutely beautiful and the staff are friendly and very helpful. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone for either their wedding or a holiday.
Great beach book location
Beautiful hotel in stunning location, if your just after a quiet beach book holiday without too much noise or hassle that the Napa Mermaid is for you.
The new owners have made magnicent improvements in upgrading their hotel and has now become very stylish and welcoming. The communal areas are breathtaking. I would recommend though considering upgrading to a junior suite upwards. Not only are they large and comfortable but you don't get charged the fridge/safe surcharges as you do in the normal rooms. AT 3.50 euros per day for a fridge and 2 euros for the safe the bill can soon add up and spoil your holiday. Fresh linen and plenty of towels everyday including fresh beach towels are the norm.
We had a junior suite and loved it, the only niggle was they have upgraded and ripped out the old bathrooms and instead have glass toilet areas and shower rooms. Any mystery or romance re bathroom habits goes straight out the balcony window, and I would have loved a long soak in a bath after a hard day on the very convienent beach but was not too be. However the large balcony and lounge area easied the burden, as well as the cakes, fruit and wine that is left on arrival, unlike the cheaper rooms.
There has been a few comments about the Napa Mermaid being 10 minutes walk outside Ayia Napa and it is true. However that also means its alot quieter and no noise on a night at all. You soon get used to the walk and during the day going via the beach makes it a lovely stroll. The hotel suits the location perfectly.
Fantasic Hotel and location was ideal
Really fantastic hotel that very much lives upto its 4*, the pool area and location is beyond 4* in my opinion.
Just turn right and is 15mins walk along a very quiet road to get to the shops and the sqaure (and 5 mins walk 2 buggy hire), or walk over the road for the beach where you can do watersports and can can walk right along beach to the marina.
Or turn left out hotel and go 3 km's to cape greko to see the caves and climb to the top of the cliffs for a great view of all the beaches!! (hiring a 200cc buggy for €50 advised for that though)
The staff are really nice but i noticed you have to engage with them before they strike up a decent conversation with you, but they remember you and are very helpful and tell you all the good places to go.
Only thing i noticed was that showers aren't power showers or anything but i really didnt mind.
Would definetly stay again and after being in the bars in a few other hotels I thought Napa Mermaid was defiently one of the best, thoroughly enjoyed the whole stay!!!!
Gorgeous Hotel - Chic and Contemporary
We thought everything about the Napa Mermaid was cool and contemporary. It was also excellent value for money in low season when we went, with great service and a good location away from the noise of the town centre, moments from a beach.
We stayed in a junior suite which had both pool and sea views and was wonderfully modern and spacious, decorated in a very contemporary style - mainly beiges, creams and whites, thankfully without a flowered pattern or frill in sight. It was open plan, and I mean all open plan – the bathroom was virtually in the same space as the bedroom, just sectioned off with frosted glass panels. We were comfortable with that, and thought it was another cool touch of design, but I can understand that some people might prefer a bit more privacy. No bath, but 2 sinks and a huge luxury shower. There was also everything you’d expect from a decent hotel, like fresh towels each day, free beach towels, quality toiletries and free fridge and safe (although not free in standard rooms apparently).
They have really thought about the design in all areas of the hotel. The lobby area is large and airy with a variety of extremely comfortable and modern seating – so even waiting for the coach to take us to the airport was a pleasure. The main bar area is equally modern, but much darker and moodier – a great place to have a drink in the evening.
The service was excellent too. All the staff were very attentive, friendly and approachable, and were always smiling and happy to help out with our questions and give recommendations – especially the guy that greeted us at reception on arrival. Although if I was to be ultra picky then I would say that the bed wasn’t made very well each day.
The buffet breakfast was OK - but not great - with a variety food and everything you’d expect from a hotel catering to many different nationalities. We only ate at the hotel one evening, so can’t really comment on that.
A beach is very close, albeit across the main road. It wasn’t a problem though, as the road was very quiet, but in peak season I can imagine the road being busier and noisier. The centre of Aiya Napa is a comfortable 15 minute walk down the road, which I think the Napa Mermaid benefits from as it’s really peaceful at the hotel, but you don’t feel you’re too far away from the action.
All in all it is a great hotel, perfect for people that want a bit of affordable luxury, and I would definitely recommend it.
Difficult to find fault!
We have stayed at the Mermaid many times, and always enjoyed the experience. With the new alterations and refurbishment it is better than ever. The Staff are cheerful, competent and polite, and always willing to put themselves out if assistance is required Most of them have been there many years, and we seem to meet the same guests every
time we stay, which speaks for itself. We are not youngsters any more, but have no problem with strolling to the centre of the resort in 20 minutes. A fine beach is just 200 yards over the road. There is also a fabulous paved walkway along the coast eastwards towards Cape Greco which stretches several miles, which never seems to be mentioned in reports. The food and service is first class, and it is difficult to find fault with the Mermaid. If one wished to niggle, the charges for the room safe, and tea making facility, could be mentioned, but all in all this Hotel is hard to beat.
Friendly, Stylish & Relaxing
The Mermaid is a stylish and friendly hotel. The cusine was outstanding, with a huge, international buffet, whilst the rooms are clean and overlook the sea (even our smaller and simple room with a side-view was cosy and had everything we needed, athough it was a tad small). The design motif of white, beige and blue hues throughout the hotel lend it an airy, Mediterranean feel, and the overall design is modern, sleek and clean (Nu-Med?). The pool faces a main road on one side which is a shame, but the hotel in general more than makes up for this with its friendliness of staff, their attentiveness to detail and professionality of service. Finally, an endless labyrinth of bars, annexes and terraces provide a romantic hideaway even from the other guests. I would definitely recommend this for romantics and Yuppies, although young parents and families seemed equally smitten!
Lovely modern hotel
Just spent a week in this modern chic hotel the location is great as others have said just across the road from a lovely sandy beach and 15 minutes walk to ayia napa either along the road or beach. The standards in the hotel are excellent as was the food .We were on half board and the choice of food was very good with a different theme every night. The staff work incredibly hard to keep everything right especially in the restaurant and are all extremely friendly. We paid a supplement for a sea view but would not do it again. Other hotels in cyprus that we have stayed in have all been on the beach and had a lovely beach and sea view however this one has a road in front of it and looks out onto a delelict building although you can see the sea you also get the road noise as well from the traffic and people walking to the other hotels, the other rooms had a limited sea view and would have been quiteter. However the other things made up for this and we would definately go back. We found that things were a lot more expensive this year but ayia napa seems to be trying to go a little upmarket as all the new bars and restaurants are all very modern and smart.
This hotel is in a quiet location, being about half a mile from the town centre. The emphasis, is on friendliness, cleanliness, and efficiency and they aim for maxium customer satisfaction. The hotel had a good decor, and worthy of a higher rating, the restaurant, and bar staff are particulary helpful.
