More about Atlantica Miramare Beach

Overrated

by ChrisnJan about Miramare Beach Hotel

We had high hopes for this hotel, alas it never met them. The place was not that bad but a four star rating is pushing it a bit. The room was much smaller than we expected and the first thing we encountered was a flooded bathroom due to the air conditioning leaking. The view from the balcony was of an abandoned half built apartment block. The cleaning staff seemed to do a decent job and the dining room staff were pleasent enough at breakfast time, we never ate in the hotel at any other time. The reception staff were a disgrace, they were not just unhelpful they were downright argumentative. An envelope with the keys to our hire car was left with. They refused to hand it over to me, insisting it was for someone else, even though it clearly had my name and room number on it. I had to contact the hire company who then spent 20 minutes arguing with the receptionist themselves before the keys were finally handed over to me. Did I get an apology? No chance. None

Nightlife

Are there certain clubs that cater to say a thirty and over clientele and which locations are the ones to visit say monday thru thursday nites inclusive

Re: Nightlife

Hi,

Probably the Old Triangle (situated below the Step Inn) at Potamos Yermasoyia in the tourist area and Rosie O'Grady's (situated underneath the Arsinoe Hotel) near to Ayios Tychonas area on the seafront. More or less opposite the Posedonia Hotel.

Both of them have Retro music and the Old Triangle does Old Skool stuff at weekends.

Travel Tips for Limassol

Don't stay in the local area...

by kershaw

Don't stay in the local area the beach at limassol is not as good as the one at Currium. A great day out would to visit the beach, the amp-theatre and the mosiacs at the same time.

Other places to visit mentioned below!
By following the coastal road towards Paphos you will pass 'Aphrodites Birth-place' on your left (yes a pile of rocks in the sea), close to this is a lovely restaurant on the right (the name escapes me) but it is set well back and easy to miss.
In Paphos(an harbour town) beware of the pelican near the harbour wall if it's still there!
Outside Paphos contiue to follow the coastal road and you will reach the 'Baths of Aphrodite' a waterfall.
As you travel along this coastal road you will at one time come inland a little bit and pass through a very lush green land area with very British looking house this known locally as Happy Valley, you actually will be skirting the Army camp!!

Tasting delicious oranges

by gigina

Just finishing from sight seeing Kolossi Castle, don't miss out on tasting some delicious oranges. Once you get out from the castle, there's a wooden kiosk where a nice old Cypriot man sells oranges (either squashed or whole) for ridiculous prices.

It is know that giant cypresses were planted long ago as windbreaks and these have grown up to form lofty tunnels over the road leading to Kolossi village. Eucalyptus clumps drained the swamps here and allowed extensive orange groves to flourish, most of them originally planted by Jewish settlers at the end of the 19th Century

whoa,this is life!

"Guess who's back,back again:)"

After 6 times in Cyprus,we went back again in June 2003..and - again - the trip was awesome!Limassol just feels like a second home, although it's like an opposite to our hometown in Finland,Kuopio!Limassol has it all:sun, beach(not the perfect, but good),city(it's not all about the sun, sometimes you have to hit the shops, too!),very sunny and lovely local people and of course the nightlife in potamos yermasoiyas(tourist area)!

A visit to Cyprus

by percy961

"Limassol"

In June of 2002 we took the 4 hour flight from Cardiff airport (UK) into Paphos airport. Our base for our time in Cyprus was in the city of Limossal. We stayed at the Miramare hotel .

"The Troodos"

The Troodos Mountains We decided to rent a car and our first trip was up into the Troodos moutains. We explored the picturesque village of Platres and the?superb views from the highest point of Chionistra or Olympos (1952 m.)

We drove through the Troodos mountains until we decided to stop for Lunch in the Village Pedhoulas, which is a typical Cypriot Viage, away from tourism. We had a wonderful Greek salad at the "Two flowers" Hotel which has some wonderful views from the restaurant.

"Pissouri"

Pissouri We spent a day in the coastal village of Pissouri, our first stop was the " Two Friends" Taverna which has some breathtaking views across the surrounding countryside.

We had Lunch at The Symposium, which is right on the waterfront of Pissouri Bay and I can highly recommend the Swordfish they serve.
