Just like Cheers, I like a place where everyone knows my name. It is nice to have someplace to stop in at even when you are alone and don't want to feel lonely. Anyone that travels a lot on business my themselves will know what I am talking about. Cheers.

The Curium Palace has a nice pool out back, and it is a great place to have lunch during the summer. In the sun if it is not too intense. In the shade if it is really hot outside. I like the restaurant, but find it quite expensive. It can be a great place to have breakfast, again I prefer out by the pool, with customers. They have live music sometimes on Monday and Thursday nights. Especially during the summer. It is a popular hotel for weddings and community/corporate meetings.

Not speaking specifically about the Curium Palace Hotel, but many foreign workers are treated very poorly by their employers, and some are even subject to sexual harassment from Cypriots. Yes, there are girls who come to Cyprus to work and to make money. Some Cypriots think this makes all foreign girls working in Cyprus a target. It is afterall a macho culture. Even those that are not bothered are also not paid very much. So please, if you are a guest, try to feel some empathy for the staff who are afterall just following management's instructions.

The staff at the Curium Palace are a fairly nice bunch. Here is a picture of Goran the bar tender. Goran is from Serbia and has been working in Cyprus for 4-years now. Most of the staff come from Poland, Slovakia, the Ukraine, Russia and other Eastern European countries, although some staff are at least part-Cypriot.

I stayed at the Curium Palace for about 21-days in May 2004. I enjoyed my time there very much and got to know many of the staff. It remains a popular watering hole afterwork and I like to just pop-in and visit. The Curium Palace was first built in 1954. It was the first hotel in Limassol. The hotel was completely refurbished in 2000-01. It is now finished to a fine, traditional standard.
