No place to sleep
The hotel is conveniently located, but I will certainly never stay here (or at another related property) again. I am here for five nights (unfortunately) for a conference. There is a nightclub in the hotel where they play outrageously loud music until 3:00 AM every night. I was not told about this when I checked in, or offered a room on a floor where the noise would be somewhat abated. It is impossible to sleep here.
The room itself is tiny, and has minimal amenities -- not at all what I expect from a Holiday Inn. There is a really bad Japanese restaurant (as well as a rather over-priced Italian restaurant, which I have not tried), where all of the fish is frozen, and the "chef" has no idea how to cut sashimi.
If you're looking to stay out late at a night club, by all means come here. If you're looking for a place to get a night's sleep, go somewhere else.
Unique Quality: Nothing outstanding. Uncomfortable and inhospitable place. I honestly can't recommend it to anyone.

Holiday Inn, Nicosia
I stayed in this for 4 nights and overall it was a pleasant stay. The hotel lobby and restaurants are quite modern and large but the rooms don't quite match this, they are very dated and could realy do with refurbishment. In saying that though, the rooms are very large with plenty of storage space, a full bathroom, large comfortable bed, balconies and lots of work space. My room was on the 4th floor with a view of the northern (Turkish) half of the city and the Troodos Mountains (with an imposing Turkish flag and Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus flag painted on the side). The hotel has good facilities; a gym and pool etc and there are also many options for eating within the hotel. I only ate in the Italian restaurant which was very good, there is also a sushi and Japanese restaurant. There is a bar on the roof which unfortunately was closed during my stay, I believe it only opens in summer time. I did have look though and it offers great views of the city.
The location of the hotel is perfect, its at the edge of the old town so the shops and restaurants of Ledra street and beyond are all within walking distance. The other main shopping street, Archbishop Makarios III, is also within walking distance.
I found the staff nice, not overly friendly or helpful but an acceptable level of service. The main city taxi office is also across the road so getting a taxi is never a problem.
Unique Quality: Location and the views of the Troodos Mountains from the back of the hotel.
