More about Akti Beach Tourist Village
Akti Beach Tourist Vilage
We arrived at the hotel at 6am and thought that the hotel looked quite basic, the welcome was okay but the welcome meeting was in the morning at 8am so they obviously expected us too get no sleep. The food at this hotel is very nice so i do advise you too upgrade too half board.
The pool bar is very good and there is one resturant worker who is very doesy and clumbsy and when we were there we all had a halarious time laughing at the doesy things he did. Unfortunately he is moving away at the end of the season this year.
I stayed in an appartment and it was very nice yet basic, the towels where changed everyday. The weather during August was lovely and I loved the little cove next to the hotel, unfortunately the hotel is in a rural part of Paphos yet fortunately it is right next to Coral Bay and aslo Paphos. I would deffinately advise you to visit Bar Street and if you do to go into Bubbles,Black&White,Rainbow and Flairs if you are young. Also the foam party on a Tuesday at Club Pure although there is many Cypriots there.
A bad point to this hotel is the entertainer - Adelle whom shouts phrases saying "kick them in the poonamie" and "shake the bloody balls". He is a tunisian entertainer.
However the entertainment at the hotel is very good and includes activities such as; children discos, parrot shoes, modelling clothes, bingo, roman night, the water gym, water polo and the morning water stretches. The entertainer who does these things is called Lorna and she is a very happy person and is constantly smiling.
This hotel is very good from wherever you live as the hotel staff can speak many languages such as; greek, english, itallian and french. There is very nice looking waiters and also many of the people there are quite good looking, unfortunately you do get some of the chavs but thats what you get everywhere right?
Well, after staying there 2 weeks in a appartment i would deffinately reccomend you too go there and i would also go back anyday!
would go back
Just returned from Akti. The rooms were spacious, could do with the tiles re-grouting, but that's all. Bananas, limes, figs growing out-side the rooms. The staff were eager to please, lovely reception, bar areas. Al a carte restaurant ok. We only ate there once, as we like to travel around. There is a lovely cove (shingle and quite rocky) but you can swim in there, it is very quiet. We spent alot of time swimming in the sea. Two out-door pools which are very clean and the areas around are kept clean and tidy too. The children that were there were well behaved. There was about 30 of us staying in Paphos and out of the other hotels we visited, I would say that our was the best with one exception.
I was dissapointed about the breakfast as I love fresh fruit!!! A lovely hotel. About 5 mins taxi from restaurants etc and buses are very regular.
Friendly, clean hotel
Enjoyment is often based on expectation. Trip Advisor reviews
warned about the fact the hotel is about 1km from the main road and that there is no real beach. With this information known to us we have no other negative comments! We were a family of four with kids aged 5 and 7, they loved the swimming pools. A car is a must, the Island is beautiful. We opted for half board and the meals were of a high standard, they were also very accomodating when they realised we did not eat meat. The apartment was nice and clean _ maids came 5/6 days) with constant hot water ( but no heating), Cyprus was generally cooler than expected ( about 20 degress in early April). The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. We would stay there again.
Comfortable and friendly
Having read some reviews on this resort on the internet I set off full of trepidation that was entirely unfounded. We arrived and were checked in with speed and efficiency despite having been the last off the bus. Our apartment was clean and reasonably well equiped although the kitchen was not really meant for serious cooking of any kind. Throughout our 2 week stay the apartment was cleaned most days and the bins emptied every day. We were very happy with our stay there even the relative remoteness of the resort from bars and restaurants was not really a negative as it was easily overcome by hiring a car and there were bus stops easily reached by a stroll (not really arduous) across a roughish path or round by the road (only took about 10 minutes).
Good if you like a walk!
This hotel is ideal if you want a relaxing holiday with a beautiful view over the sea. The staff in the main are friendly and effiecient especially the receptionist Heather. Pool bar and the taverna restaurant are very good as food is made to order. Pool area is clean and well maintained.
Our apartment was clean and was equipped well enough for a holiday. Maid service was everyday apart from Sunday. The apartments are set in well kept gardens and has a real village feel.
Now to the downside.....on an evening the entertainment package can only be described as Butlins without any real thought! Food in the main restaurant is very average had has lots of salt added.
Lastly dont believe your travel agent if they tell you its a 20min walk to Pathos centre, we do alot of walking at home and it took us a good 1hr30mins. There are buses that run every 15mins though.
We enjoyed are stay at the Akti and if we got a good deal im sure we would visit again.
Brilliant, Brilliant, Brilliant!
I simply want to say, disregard all on the negative reviews on this holiday resort, it was brilliant!
We had a week in the Akti resort and found the staff very, very friendly.
The references to greasy food or too salty really come down to personal preference. I personally wouldn't say any of it was bad, all in all it was the type of cuisine you would find in a top class 4 star hotel back in the UK. Very, Very good.
We had 2 children both aged 2 in our party and the staff welcomed them and made them feel very comfortable - dinner time was a joy!
In reference to a long walk to the bus stop - there is a walk, we enjoyed it one night and altough it is over rough terrain it took all of 5 minutes, not all that bad you wingers out there!!
The main town is a 10 min bus ride and the beach is about the same.
On a side note we did hire a car and this is another way of getting about, and it was pretty painless but do beware on the accident waiver get a decent quote before you travel as this does add up if your not expecting it!!
All in all a brilliant stay.
Quiet and friendly
This hotel was quiet and fun with a excellent entainer that came round every day asking if we would like to take part in water polo french balls and more he was a great laugh. The staff were helpful. there was a buffet every night with differnt themes such as greek night mexian so on. the food was nice all though i wasnt keen on the meets.the hotel and appartments were cleaned reguarly maid service every day. from my experiance i would say it isnt a very child friendly place all though there was a childrens area. The pool table by the pool the first one takes 10ps so dnt put 50s in it we found this owt on our last day.so its 10p a game.i had a great time . but its a fair walk to the town or a taxi ride. be careful if u walk up by the short cut there are bee hives.dont walk up there in the dark.if you go enjoy and relax youl love it for its quitnes remmeber its only a short jouney into town.and if you want a beach vist coral bay beach. have fun
Felt Like Aphrodite At The Akti!
We have just returned from Akti. Had best room in the hotel & largest balcony.Wonderful sea view. Hotel was 4 star although food wasn't.(we were half board) However as we had got the whole holiday for reasonable price - food was adequate.
Staff were helpful, friendly, and efficient. Maid service was very good. Entertainment changed nightly. The entertainments manager Adel - is great. From an early morning wake up to very late at night he is friendly and great fun. Oh! and he can sing too.
Although we are an older couple without children-this hotel caters
well for all. Children had kids clubs and a disco. Pools are excellent too. The pool man does a good job.I had a cancer operation in January this year. This pool and the whole experience at the Akti and Paphos helped me build up my strength.By the time we came home I was swimming 38 lengths
Try food at the Arco in Paphos for real Cypriot cuisine. Also the Trakkus taverna by the donkey sanctuary. Hire a car (1500 Lancer)from Chris,in Paphos, for only £17 per day fully inclusive of insurance and a full tank of petrol.
And dream of owning one of the fabulous villas ,to the right of the hotel as you face the sea.And try a dip in the sea from the small cove just opposite these villas.Anyway 9/10 for this holiday
Read this before booking!
Stayed here with my wife in April. Things you should know! The apartments are really basic, we have stayed in basic Butlins apartments, which were better equipped. The room we stayed in was very damp and cold. With no heating, which was needed at night in April (we and other guests had to put the oven on in the room).
The place is well out of the way, so you may need a car. If you book through Olympic hols, dont hire a car fro them as they will charge you approx £100 pounds for insurance and fuel at the airport (they did this to us). Not good when you are told its all included!
The food here is not great, it's edible. Most of the staff are very nice, especially if you tip them everytime they get you something.
George is very nice, if you are a pretty female or French.
The beach here is non existent, you have to travel to Coral beach, which is about 3 miles away.
Personally, we would not go back again. Some of the people on this site must be used to very very basic holidays and be easily pleased.
Lovely hotel shame about its location
I spent two weeks here with my partner in June 2007. The hotel was lovely, nice pools, decent rooms (they were basic but clean). We had a large balcony but we didnt get a pool or sea view. We went self catering and therefore didnt eat breakfast. I used the gym and indoor pool a few times over the 2 week period and although the gym was small, it was very quiet and I often had all the machines to myself. The staff were friendly and nice. The only problem with this hotel it its location. It is quite a walk to anywhere, but neither me or my partner mind walking and the walk to the main part of paphos was a costal walk which wasnt too bad, but it did take over 30 mins to get to the strip of bars and then another 30 mins to get to the harbour. There is a
regular bus service though and it was 80 euros each which isnt bad. ideally I would recommend that you hire a car if you dont like walking.
