"Last Minute Deal"

Around about a month before xmas we decided we needed a holiday in the sun. We had looked around for a few weeks and Nikki decided that Cyprus was a good choice.

We booked a last minute deal in November and took an allocated on arrival package.

We ended up in the Aquasol Villiage North of Paphos and luckily enough our friends had booked there too, they had gotten married in Limassol the year before and I was lucky enough to be his best man on the day.

We had read various reports on the net about this place some good, some very bad so we were a little aprehensive when checking in but we were pleasently surprised to find out it wasn't that bad at all. Certainly not 4 star as advertised, but we had booked 2 star self catering anyway.

They were doing a great deal ?15 a day all inclusive and needless to say being the Scotsman and liking my food and drink I went for that. IT was great value for money.

"Relaxing"

The weather wasn't fantastic for the first couple of days but on Xmas day and the last day we were there it was really sunny.

It was fantastic relaxing on Xmas day in the sun and enjoying the local beveridges aplenty.

The whole idea of the holiday was to relax so we didn't travel anywhere in Cyprus but we couldn't resist going on the day excursion to Egypt (see Cairo page).

All in all an enjoyable holiday, it was a strange experience my first Xmas not with family, but it was good to get away from the hustle and bustle of it all.

Ayios Lambrianos

Up Apostolou Pavlos, on the left-hand side, lies the rock-cut catacomb/shrine of Ayios Lambrianos. There are several chambers, some with icons and offerings. Inside one is a Roman altar; clearly the place was used as catacombs and/or shrine in Roman times (and probably earlier).

Worth exploring, though sadly littered.

Eating Out

This is a large Australian/Sports themed pub absolutely full of Aussie style and charactor. Situated on 'Tomb of the Kings' Road serving good quality food and drinks all day at very reasonable prices. The interior of this pub is just so unique and inspiring, decorated with everything from sports banners to real tropical birds! The Outback has a strong family atmosphere, especially in the evening when it comes alive with karaoke, shows and games. Very much recommended. Anything...!!

The smartest venue, well worth a visit

This is a really smart place, we didn't eat here but the food did look nice. The Cocktails are the best-the Black Russian didn't even have any coke in!! It really is quite a big place and being a bit out of the centre of Coral Bay it doesn't get the business other places do. It's a shame because a lot of money and effort has been put in here, there are leather lounge sofas so you can really relax and chill, and the back there is a dance floor. The drinks come wwith lovely nuts and snacks. Best to go between 9-11pm because they have a happy hour-all Cocktails 1.50 Cyp pounds-they'll blow your head off! Open to 3 a.m. Black Russian.

Coral Bay

Coral bay is a nice area north west of Paphos. A wide sweeping bay with a small harbour & a great beaches, Sadly the bulldozers have moved in & the hotels are on their way, so go & appreciate it whilst you still can.
