Me and my boyfriend went to the Ascos beach on the first week in June and had a fab time!!!!!!!
Firstly, the building work. Yes, it is there, but it didn't bother us at all, so don't worry!!
NO CHILDREN- what a difference!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Food- excellent, especially dinner!
The pool was great and because of the amazing heat, we spent most of our time in there!
Rooms were spacious and comfortable and were cleaned everyday.
Coral Bay is pleasant little town and well worth a wonder. It's 5 mins walk from the hotel. The beach is a bit further.
You really will have a great time at this hotel!
Iam a boring veggie, i find it hard to find decent food, but wow this hotel had it. While everyone else had to go and self service i would order mine by midday. That evening the head waiter would get mine and bring it to my table.
The bar staff were nice and polite. We were all inclusive, if you want spirits be prepared to drink very strong ones.
The swimming pool is very clean and nice.
But the cleaners of the rooms weren't very good, there 7days and it was never swept.
But you can't have everything.
Make your own mind up????
After reading reviews, I was terrified about staying at the hotel. All I can say is that we where very happy with our stay at the hotel, food was good, weather was very hot, and the rooms where very clean and presentable, what more can I say. The young staff that worked in the restaurants where very freindly and helpful, not so keen on the older cyprus workers, who seemed to look down their noses at you!!!!.
People hogging the loungers around the swimming pool was also very annoying, and it was the same people every day, the hotel should have rules about people putting towels on loungers the night before!.
We went on the Day trip to Cairo, which was done through the rep, it cost about £495.00 for the two of us, but was well worth every penny, and would recommend it to everyone.
wow What a holiday A+++++
This was our first time at this hotel and couldn't have been more pleased. The hotel, the food - everything was brilliant. All the staff were really friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much bother. As stated in a previous review, be prepared to have your drinks under the AI rather strong. We were staying in the bungalows which were excellent and lovely sea view. The only thing about the bungalows was the hill up to the hotel. Okay to start but the last 10 feet we nick named "cardiac hill". Overall though, definately recomended and we will definately be back.
Ascos-A Comprehensive Review
Having just come back from the Ascos Coral Bay(7th-14th Jun 06)and after I have read all the previous reviews, I would like to comment and clarify some of the previous points made for the sake of someone thinking of going to the resort.Myself, wife and daughter went there for my 40th birthday on the recommendation of First Choice, and found the Ascos in general a good place to have a holiday. However with what has been said before there are a few things you could probably take to mind before you book. They are as follows:
1- The Ascos Coral Bay Hotel is a 10 year old building which is more in need of a makeover than major surgery. Some wear and tear here and there, carpets that need changed, grouting in the bathroom,a lick of paint.Better air-conditioning in the rooms which were sometimes very warm, although the reception and dining areas were always pleasant and smoke free. The pool was clean and fresh and there were plenty of sunbeds, though I did catch a guy at 3am putting a towel down which was beyond me!
2- Location- 13kms from the centre of Paphos but the local bus services are frequent, clean and air conditioned and there is always car hire.(nb Car-hire through a travel agent in Britain is a complete rip-off £220 for 3 days for a tatty Vitara jeep. For a much better vehicle booked local it will cost about £70 less for the same period.
3- All inclusive or not?Definitely not.We spent £1700 AI and another £600 eating out, drinking etc etc.Bed and breakfast or half-board would be perfect because although the food is plentiful and a good selection,it can become a wee bit "samey"as with the 2/3 selections of lager and the strong unheard of local spirits, the fact that the local "strip" is 5 mins walk up a small incline which has about 40 premises including restaurants, pubs, nightclubs, souvenir shops, taxis and a bookies!you have plenty of variety on your doorstep.
4-The Staff- Much maligned in previous reviews, they are mostly eastern european but all to a man(or woman )were courteous, smiling, pleasant and were there to help.Only the Cypriot staff themselves were a bit off but thats just their nature,if you have a problem go straight to the manager and it will be sorted asap!
5-The Entertainment- No it's not crap! Thomas Cook run the entertainment and every night all seats were taken for the extremely hard working team led by Stevie P.Variety is the word to get you involved if you don't want to then don't.(Oh the line dancing is for a hospice on the island which has raised £120,000 not for drying paint!)Take up the ramble which costs CYP 1.60 It was most informative and takes in a village 20 mins from Ascos steeped in local history which Stevie is a part of.Remember to wave to his relatives!
To finish it was a great holiday and I definitely will go back to the Ascos in the near future, probably after 2008 when the island of Cyprus adopts the Euro and it will be a bit cheaper!
More on Coral Bay, Cyprus
"Ascos Coral Beach - our home from home..."
We love Coral Bay, it really is our home from home. It's a magical feeling that's so intangible I'm not going to even try to explain it. Just go ... see what you think!
"Ascos Coral Beach"
The Ascos Coral Beach is a fantastic adults-only all-inclusive property. We've already been twice this year with plans to go back next year too...
Here's a scene showing what's getting built next door. Don't worry, it was only unsightly wasteland and anyway, it'll be finished by April 2006.

A real haven in the Cyprus heat!

Weather in Paphos
Hi, I have just booked a villa in Coral Bay Paphos for 1 week 19th April to 26th April and would like to know if anyone has been there at that time who can let me know what the weather will be like. I am praying that it will be hot enough to sunbathe as my son needs some sun for medical reasons. Also, if the evenings are cold do we need a jacket?
Re: Weather in Paphos
There should be lots of sun at the end of April.
It won't be warm enough to go swimming, but there should be lots of oportunity to sunbath.
In the evenings it'll be cooler, so take a jacket if you're planning to sit outside.
Re: Weather in Paphos
Yes, you should see lots of sun, and for the places where the sun doesn't quite warm enough yet, I suggest you bring a warm-up fleece jacket, the kind sold for sailing, etc. Also, if you are hiring a car, you might need the air con in the day and the heater at night, so make sure both work OK before you drive off! (We hired a comfy saloon car from Fontana Car Rentals last year, everything worked fine, and they didn't mind me checking a/c and heating when they delivered it either! Makes a change - usually I get hire car staff sighing heavily and looking at their watches when I check the car before I drive off, but I'm paying so they can wait...)
