Wrong room

It was nice after we changed rooms, we had been told we wouldn't have a room overlooking the pool and very noisey pool bar and guess what that is the room we got the noise was really bad it sounded like a cat being strangled when the very drunk brits sang. Oh dear.
We got moved and it was nice the rooms are big the kitchen was well equipt although I didn't use anything all in all it was good.

Unique Quality: In the middle of the harbour and the old town not far from the tombs of the kings and very close to the beach.

More about Damon Hotel Apartments

clean and friendly

by TripAdvisor Member selfps48

me and my family of 5 adults and 2 kids have just spent a week at the damon hotel and enjoyed it very much. the appartments are cleaned regularly and there is lots of activaties for every one to do. 3 pool tables computers. xbox games. kids tv. two bars a gym sauna tennis court pong pong table and a nice sized pool plus a small baby pool and plenty of sun loungers for everyone . all the staff are friendly and very helpful. you can bye all sorts of food at the pool side bar and in the evening there are large of choices of places to eat out from tavernas to italian chinese indian pizza hut or KFC. i would recomend a visit to the Sisyfos roof resterant steak house which is just across the road from the damon hotel. you can watch the sun set over the sea when enjoying your meal. the food is lovely the staff are nice and they have a wide selection for vegiterians and you will not be able to resist the sweet trolly. pathos town center is 5 min away by number 15 bus that you pick up right outside the hotel and there is also a beach a short walk from the hotel. we will be going to go back to the damon hotel in the future for what we hope will be another great holiday

Would not return

by TripAdvisor Member fiesta_7

We have just returned from a weeks holiday at the Damon. First impressions of the hotel were good the reception staff were friendly and the reception was clean the only concern i had was the main road the hotel is on.
We got shown to our room which was a 2 bed appartment which i cant fault, it was massive and very clean and definatly plenty of room for 4 adults. There was air con in each room.
As we arrived late at night we decided to go straight to bed, this is where the problem began, it was soooo noisy. The road the hotel is on is VERY busy and they think nothing of beeping horns at 3 in the morning! If you are not kept awake by that you will be kept awake by the bars and night club next to and oppisite the hotel. We could not sit on the balcony and relax because of the noise from road day or night.
We didnt use the pool at the Damon as there was a horrible smell coming from the pool toilets instead we went to the Keflos Holiday Village which your allowed to use. This Hotel is lovely and the facilites are great and its only a short walk away by the beach.
We would not stay at the Damon Hotel again.

absolutely perfect

Just returned from a week stay at damon apartments in paphos.
We arrived at around 6 in the morning and the reception staff was extremely friendly, he showed us to our hotel room and told us a few key points.
When we walked in you have to keep ur key in the switch for the air con and lights to work. The apartment was bigger then what we expected. There was a seperate bedroom with two single beds, and kitcken with table and chairs and two more beds. There was enough room for four girls but anymore then that then i think it would be cramped.
The kitchen area was fantasic, they provide you with kettle, toaster, cooker, oven. and all pots n pans incl wine glasses, cork/tin opener.
The bathroom was more then adequate, big bath which gave a nice jet of water, not the usual trickle.
All the staff were very helpful, esp the woman who works the early mornin day shift.
There's a bus stop right outside, and a supermarket in the vicinity.
The pool was a good size aswel. There is a great mix of families and couples and it was very relaxin. We were very grateful for the air con as this is a must due to the heat wave we had!
I would defo recommend this place to stay!

useless air con equals sleepless nights

Stayed at the Damon, Paphos for a week in early August with my family. The Damon was reasonable but it had ONE MAJOR PROBLEM that would prevent me from staying there again – despite their claims, there was no air conditioning in the rooms.

I booked through the LateGreatDeals.co.uk web site. The Damon came up as a very reasonably priced 4-star hotel…4-Star? it isn’t, and if you go some of the other 4-star hotels in the locality the Damon does not measure up in terms of quality. Having said that, for a 3-star place that has seen better days it is still reasonably priced.
The rooms where large and comfortable, and the pool area was very pleasant but there were lots of shabby things: cracked walkways, the bathroom floor was well limescaled, broken skirtings and well scuffed walls everywhere, the bins in the communal areas were rusting, and the drains stank. But to restate, up to this point I was getting what I paid for: cheap, good facilities if a little rough at the edges.

However there was for us a major problem - the air con in our room just did not work. It was effectively little more that a fan behind a vent in the wall. They came to fix it and told us the cooling system was communal for our block (7 blocks in total) – it was not fixed and I guess if ours was not cooling then neither was any other in our block. I asked for another room and while doing so a fellow guest mentioned that he had witnessed another guest make the same complaint at reception. I was given a key to look at another room in a different block. I closed the windows and doors, put the air con on and came back an hour later – useless. I asked my family whether we should get the rep to find us another hotel. They felt that repacking and moving was just too much hassle. But nevertheless, sleeping was difficult (Cyprus in august is usually 25 degrees at night) and the tiredness we suffered definitely detracted from the holiday.

The resort, places and basic costs: Cyprus and Paphos are quite nice. The Cypriots are friendly and honest and the resort is large enough to offer a good variety of things to do in the day and evening. Paphos is suitable for families and couples; lads and laddettes on the bevvy and on the pull should go elsewhere. Coral beach (10k north of paphos) is the only decent sandy beach. The sea is balmy and beautiful.
The heart of the resort is Kato Paphos – the harbour area, with plenty of bars and restaurants. There are some hotels there but being an older section there are few with pools. There are three major hotel regions. Along the coast, south of the harbour there is a string of larger, newer ‘resort hotels’. There is very little in that stretch other than the hotels so a walk into Kato Paphos would be the closest alternate attraction – which would be a long trek if you are at the southern end of this chain. There is another cluster of hotels about 2k north of Kato Paphos, along the Avenue of the Kings. This is where the Damon is and there are a number of similar places as well as a few ‘resort’ Hotels. This region has plenty of bars and restaurants to suit all tastes and is a short walk from the harbour. 10k north is Coral Beach. Again, this has lots of new and luxurious resort style hotels, and just up from the beach there is a small cluster of bars and restaurants. The beach is very good, but it does not offer a great deal of variety.
Prices: beer is about £1.80 a pint and likewise spirits and cocktails are cheaper than the UK but soft drinks are on a par with the UK. All the bars seem to have basic food (chips, burger, salad etc) which is quite cheap. The restaurants range from local greek style and seafood to Chinese, Mexican and pizza hut. The price of eating out is roughly equivalent to the UK (meal + drinks) maybe even slightly more expensive. e.g. £40-£60 for a family of 4. I loved the greek slads (fresh and tasty) but I was disappointed at the quality of the rest. Given the vast improvement of UK pub and restaurant food over the past 15 years, the Paphos equivalents just did not match up. For £50 I could do a lot better in the UK – even with pricier drinks. All-in-all eating at a bar in the day and a restaurant at night, plus sundry costs (a drink here, an ice cream there, taxis, busses etc) it cost me £100 a day for a family of 4.

Loved the atmosphere

The hotel / apartments are managed by STAVROS, he's helpful and almost always available to assist with anything you need, although the reception staff are also very helpful. The apartments themsevles are clean, spacious and suitable for all your holiday needs. There is entertainment at the hotel, and the use of the nearby sister hotel, which has its own beach section too. The bar at the Damon stays open until you dictate - which is always a good thing! Everything is in easy reach of the apartments, including restaurants, bars, nightlife, kato paphos, tourist attractions and transport options. Buses run regularily on the main road which is nearby to Coral bay, the market and the town, however you also have the option to hire a car from the rental shops also close to the apartments. These apartments offer the ideal location for exploring Paphos. WELL ABOVE AVERAGE, we've been 3 times so far, and are due to return again this year for our wedding, for which we have had the most help from the manager in arranging! Excellent, a must go!!!

ok friendly staff

by TripAdvisor Member tracy3528

friendly staff lovely pool rooms very basic but for the price you get what you pay for . My only problem was there is no lift and had to carry a baby in a pram up 2 flights of stairs when there was young people on the ground floor . We only stayed for 5 nights so we put up with it .Could have done with a little more entertainment at nights

Amazing apartments

by TripAdvisor Member crewfood

The apartment were fantastic. There really is nothing I could complain about. The rooms were very spacious, bright. We managed to get a poolview room away from the nosiy main road which runs outside the hotel. The apartment was clean and came with a complete kitchen with oven. The apartment are in a great location with shops, restaurants and bars just outside. 15minutes to the airport and 10/15mins walk to the harbour.

I would definte stay here again.

2* hotel with access to 4* facilities

by TripAdvisor Member Jennenogram

Just got back from a week at the Damon. As a base for a holiday it was ok - spacious rooms, working aircon, friendly staff. We had a room on the side road, which we weren't thrilled about at first but then came to realise we got to see some lovely sunsets and the road wasn't that noisy - although we can sleep through pretty much anything.

The location was ok - can't say we were overwhelmed by Tomb of the Kings road or the restaurants on there but the bus stop right outside took you to the harbour for 80c where we spent some lovely evenings. In the other direction and for the same price you could get to Coral Bay which is absolutely to be recommended.

The best thing about the Damon was that you get free access to Kefalos Beach Tourist Village - a 4 star hotel about 5 minutes walk away (albeit across some scrubland!). The facilities there are fabulous - lovely pool and sunbeds right by the sea. The beach was a bit too stony to enjoy but it was great to lie there and listen to the sound of the sea.

Basically, you get what you pay for with the Damon, but the access to Kefalos Hotel raises it above the average.

Damon apartments and nightlife

by cazpo_1

Hi

We have just booked to go to Paphos in June and was hoping someone can give us any information onthe Damon apartments and what the nightlife is like? we like cheesy music so any recommended bars would be appreciated!

How far are we from the nightlife on bar street?

Also any information on the waterpark would be useful and again distance from the apartments.

Many thanks for your help.
