pleasantly surprised!!!!

We went to the Mayfair on our honeymoon with 3 children. We were worried by previous reports but there is definately nothing to worry about with this hotel. It is a 20 min walk to some places but when you are on holiday whats the hurry!!! Its not that far, i am sure if some people were in the middle of everything they would complain about it being too close!! The groups of men who hang around are only locals who have finished work and are socialising with their mates, dont people do that back home!! They are harmless and very friendly. The hotel was lovely, very clean and very nice staff. We only had snacks in the hotel and they were really nice and i never saw any glasses left around for too long, the bar staff were very efficient. If people want standards of the Hilton then maybe they should go there but we could see nothing wrong with the standard of this hotel.
We had a fantastic holiday, the walk to Bar St was worth it and the breakfast at The Full Moon is a must. Some people are just too pickly. We would definately go back its good for all ages, it ticked all the boxes with our family!!
Good location!

I stayed at the Mayfair a few years ago and it was my first experience abroad and i was very pleased.
The room was clean and a good size. I had an experience with a cockroach i will never forget, lets just say i didn't know they could fly!!
The hotel was within easy walking distance to the harbour which had a good selection of resturaunts, my favourite was one called Posidonas, the waiters were very polite and friendly and the food was delicious.
The hotel bar was very nice and not too expensive, it was nice to go and sit in there after coming back from a nice meal.
There are two pools and are both of decent size and are very clean there was also plenty of sunbeds to go round.
The staff were very friendly and helpful and gave us a can of cockroach spray to use and also told us to keep the plug sockets covered as they can sometimes crawl through.
We had to get the bus to the beach but this wasn't much of a problem as they run pretty frequent and are quite cheap. We also hired out a scooter for a few days, this was a great way of getting to see more of the island and we got to see excellent views of the coastline, i would definatly reccomend you do this.
Overall i had a very enjoyable holiday and would definatly go back.
A Nightmare

A group of us stayed here for a friends wedding in Paphos. From the minute we arrived it was a disaster, our apartment was for 3 persons but only had one double bed and a very small cot bed which was not possible to sleep in. We also had no hot water which took 3 days to fix. At night we had to walk in the pitch dark down a dirt track to get to out apartment, this was not very safe when either came home alone. The general upkeep of the hotel is non existent, our pool area was overgrown and our terrace was crawling with ants. I don't know how this hotel is still getting customers, everytime I was at the desk there was another unhappy customer complaining. Also the Front desk Manager was very rude and didnt seem to understand any of our problems. This hotel is advertised as a 3*, after my experience I would honestly say it deserves no more than 1*.
Magnificant May at the Mayfair
by TripAdvisor Member andy48ver
First holiday in ten years for me and my wife and the fist overseas holiday for my children. I was a little apprehensive about the holiday especially as my daughter has Spina Bifida and is a wheelchair user, but I need not have worried our fortnight at the Mayfair was fantastic and none of us wanted to leave.
The hotel is immaculate and the staff as are most of the people I met on the island were warm and friendly. The apartment we stayed in was standard holiday accomodation basic but clean and bug free. The only disappointment was we were allocated a first floor room instead of a ground floor accessable apartment that we had requested but that was not going to ruin our holiday.
What was really oustanding about the hotel was the entertainment. My two children Andrew 7 and Tiegan 8 had such a wonderful time that we had to arrange our days so the children could get to the kids club. My worries that my daughter Tiegan might not be allowed or would be restricted about what she could take part in were eleviated from the moment she first attended. Tiegan and her brother were given a warm friendly welcome and her disability was never an issue. At night there was a childrens disco before the regular entertainment which the children insisted we attend. The entertainment team were first rate and during the day were always involving anyone who wanted to take part in various activities and the nightly shows and quizzes were always enjoyable and great fun. The entertainment was worth the cost of the holiday alone.
Pathos is such a beautiful place, the Mayfair hotel is located a 15 minute stroll from the harbour, 15 minutes to the beach, 20 minutes to the town centre and 5 minutes from a large hypermarket and bowling alley. An ideal destination for families and workable in a wheelchair if they have someone to assist them.
Two quick tips. Dont play volleyball in your bare feet and make sure the entertainer does not have his mobile phone in his pocket when you throw them in the pool(sorry again Ace).
I will definitely be back as soon as possible.

The Mayfair Experience
by TripAdvisor Member Sooties
We have just returned from a 2 week holiday at the Mayfair Hotel and Apartments complex. This venue offers, all inclusive, half-board, B&B and self-catering.
We chose the last option as there are so many wonderful restaurants within walking distance of this complex, and even though we ate out most days for lunch and dinner - we still did not manage to visit all of these. However, there were a number of meals that we did take within the hotel that were absolutely sumptious, it was sometimes hard to drag ourselves away to other restaurants. We found this to be the most difficult descision we had to make the entire fortnight - "where are we going to eat?"
The hotel was first class in cleanliness and friendliness, although we would say that some rooms need re-decorating and re-furbished - we found these to be a bit dated and somewhat dark - not the usual for the Med., but we were offered an alternative room if we wanted one. Nothing was too much trouble.
The entertainment was also first class - in so much that the resident entertainement team cater for kids and adults throughout the day and evening with various games and sports. The evening entertainement also included cabaret, Cypriot evening, Hypnotist and games - for all ages, and what was best was the audience participation. All round good fun and entertainment for families, couples, or groups of people.
If you have family, the entertainment stops at 11.30 ish, which is good - no noise to keep your wee ones awake after a long hot day in the sun.
For those who need to party - Bar Street less than 15 minutes walk where there is much partying to do!!
All in all, a great location, great hotel and we are hoping to re-book for a week later on this year and then hopefully for 3 weeks next year - something we have not wanted to do before!
P.S. There were about 7 weddings taking place in and around the hotel which shows you how versatile this place really is
Great place

Just returned from a week stay at the Mayfair, we were really worried after reading some of the reviews but we need not have as this place is excellent.
The hotel is set in the middle if a residential area but the locals are really friendly and do often sit on the corner chatting just give them a smile and friendly hello and they will return the gesture.
We felt we were central to everything and within walking distance unlike a lot of the five star hotels set in the middle of nowhere.
The rooms are basic but very clean and the service excellent, they have three pin plugs the same as ours.
We stayed half board and were pleasantly surprised as the food is excellent and would rival any five star establishment. Everything is well presented and nothing is too much trouble for the staff, the chef often comes out to chat to customers and check that you enjoyed the food any complaints would be dealt with straight away not that we heard many.
The pool areas are well kept and plenty of sunbeds to be found there was always someone tidying around.
The entertainment team work really hard and are excellent with the kids, the dance routines are great, give them a BIG clap as they deserve it. Oh and thanks to Holly our Thomas cook rep she was very helpful and informative.
Well worth a visit is the harbour and heratige centre the Roman ruins uncovered and the mosaics are incredible, its free to go in on Sundays, we walked to the Tomb of the Kings but buy a guide book before you go walk around as it explains what you are looking at it only costs a £1 to enter.
The best nearest beach is Coral Beach you can get there by bus easily it cost 80 cents to travel anyway you want and the buses are clearly marked.
We would return to this hotel and Cyprus is well worth a visit, its safe and friendly great for families and couples alike.
