On previous visits to Paphos I have always been put off going into The Red Lion simply because of the external facade (Yes I am Scottish) as it always gave me the impression of being an English stronghold and very unwelcoming, with even the touts dressed in england Football/Rugby tops. (can I add here that I would not have entered if they had been displaying Scottish, Welsh or Irish flags to the same degree)
This is not the case now, the bar looks far more appealing and once inside Paul and his partner make you very welcome.
The strange thing is that where ever you go in Cyprus, no matter how good the restraunt or bar looks from the outside the let down is generally the toilets which are normally at the top of an Everest like staircase and not the tidiest of places. However The Red Lion is the odd one out with the toilets on the ground floor and nicely decorated and tiled.
I would certainly revisit The Red Lion and would imagine it would be a great place to watch the footie (especially when Liverpool are playing - Paul is a big Liverpool fan).
When I return in September/October I will take in a few games here.
