Accommodation

by Ivkosky

Hello all,

if I may ask, I would love to visit Cyprus, especially Paphos, or - even better - the near resort Coral Bay. I would like to go there at the beginning of July, but I was unable to find any relatively cheap accommodation there... I would be very grateful, if anybody could give me an advice please. I would like to stay there approximately one week (I want to make nice surprise for my girlfriend, who is working in Coral Bay in one of those hotels during this summer...). Thank you in advance,

Ivan

Paphos is a very, very popular tourist destination, especially for people from the UK, and its prices reflect this (especially in the high season).

Check:

www.hostelworld.com

There are some reaonable options in Paphos itself (Coral Bay is about 25 minutes away by bus ... the service is regular, but stops in the early evening).

Coral Bay is really very small. I don't know if you'll find anything cheap (or a hostel) there.

Good luck!

Thank you very much! If I may have one more question - I need to find out some information about buses in order to get from the airport of Larnaca to Paphos... I didn't find any website with tariffs and timetable. Thank you very much,

Ivan

The bus services in Cyrprus are not wonderful.

There is a bus (19, I think) from the airport to the centre of Larnaca.

I can't find details for a bus from Larnaca to Paphos. You might have to pay for a shuttle transfer, or break your journey with an overnight stay somewhere.

http://www.cyprus.com/cyprus-general-info-transportation-bus-services-intercity.php

It would be better to fly into Paphos airport, if you can.

http://www.paphosfinder.com/transportation/alepa_bus_paphos.htm

lists local Paphos buses (including those to/from Coral Bay).

Thanks a lot,

the plan crashed finally because of my work duties... Never mind, thank you once more for the great information and helpfulness!

Travel Tips for Paphos

Hearts of stones for Aphrodite

by globetrott

This is what you will see on the beach of Petra tou Romiou, that is also called "the birthplace of Aphrodite" Hundreds of hearts arranged by lovers can be seen there,it is fun to walk through there and take a look at these great works of art !
Petra tou Romiou is about 30 min to drive to from Paphos, it is situated east of Pafos.

The Archeological site of Kourion

by Tourtech

This is an amazing Archeological site, that is about an hour away from Paphos by car, on the way to Limassol.

Kourion was the site of a major development by both the Romans and the prehistoric Greeks. Now a massive archeological dig, it is home to Roman Baths, Greek orpheums, gladiator houses and ruins of Christian basilicas. We have visited the Parthenon in Greece, and this rivals if not betters it for preservation and scale. Even more impressive is that this site (which is massive) is also mostly deserted. We spent the better half of a day here and still did not see all that there was.

We would recommend this site as it is massive, under visited, well preserved, amazing to see and only costs a few euros to visit.

This is also still an active archeological site, as the rangers said, everywhere you dig there are artifacts!

Greek night

by piersend about Seriani's Restaurant

A nice restaurant with great food, especially traditional Cypriot dishes, the meze is excellent. On Fridays it's Greek night, traditional live music followed by a impromptu display by some of the waiters, one of which balances several wine glasses on his head and proceeds to dance all around the place-great fun! In the hotel is enough for all...

by Umfufu

In the hotel is enough for all the people and twice as much if you know what i mean.
The food is very special and there is something for young or old. On this picture you see a special evening outside.
The cuisine in this hotel is really great! If you have read my other pages you know i eat everything (except fish because that is making me ill since 1996! ) and i loved gamba's and lobster a lot.

Go Karts

by jjandfriends

One of the best tracks in europe. Over a mile long and some frightnengly fast karts.
It has a bridge / tunnel, it is well lit for night races and the staff look after the races very well.
You can have straight forward races or a full on grand prix, with lap times and staging if you want.
