good - but our room was too small & basic
We got married in Cyprus, staying at the Annabelle. (We got married at Pathos town hall and then had our meal back at the Annabelle).
The hotel is nice and service superb however our room was disappointing. We were advised we would get an up grade, which we didn't and the room was pokey and dark. Not what we had expected for all that money.
Our wedding meal was the nicest I have ever had. It was superb as was the waiter service. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
Our travel company, Amathus, was appauling (various problems) unfortunately they never responded to our letter of complaint on our return. DONT USE THEM.
We later went to stay at the Forest Park hotel which truely is awful and the service is terrible.
I can recommend the Annabelle (but avoid August) but do not recommend the Forest Park or Amathus travel. Avoid them like the plague!
Charming as ever....................
Our family love this hotel. Your just cant go wrong. This trip was a romantic break for myself & husband, but before we've travelled with our family and loved it at all times......
This was our 3rd trip to the annabelle in 8 years and yes its not brand new anymore, and I can see why some people may expect this but really this is'nt what the hotel is about.
This hotel for the price is Excellent. We travel on 4 holidays a year all over place and have payed double the price often and havent recieved the same quality and service for the money. They have there reputation as being a classic hotel, getting the basics right ( how to treat customers and keep them coming back, not because paphos is that great but to stay at the annabelle.
so many small boutique type hotels just dont get it .
From the moment you walk in you are royalty. Doors opened everywhere, lugguge taken care of, everything provided from beach towels to shampoo.
The hotel is located really central for paphos, paphos itself is full of english tourists with not much more than gift shops and restaurants. We ate in the hotel the whole week and didnt bother with the other restaurants as we used to as you cant beat the food and the variety in the annabelle. 3 restaurants from gourmet buffet to a la carte , all really tasty and great value. Great Wine selection.
We did have lunch at gina's place over the road as it was reccomended and it was gorgeous ( homemade sandwiches, platters, desserts to die for, ) .
The pool area has loads of sunloungers, towels, and swim in bar built around the lagoon. Thye main pool is huge as well as having its own beach for guests only.
Spa is amazing with lovely treatments. Staff are lovely from the hotel manager to the room attendants, so attentive, happy and want to do everything for you. Hire a car and drive to polis, wonderful fishing hardour with the best meze ever, near the annasa hotel. Paphos isnt nown for great food lovers but ask the hotel and they will recommend nice local restaurants.
the Annabelle once again has delieved what it says on the tin.......... affordable luxury !
A Lovely Traditional 5 Star Hotel with Excellent Service
WE TRANSFERRED TO THE ANNABELLE AFTER SPENDING 1 NIGHT AT THE ALMYRA - WE MOVED HOTELS DUE TO NOISEY ROOM AND LACK OF SPACE AT THE ALMYRA (SEE MY ALMYRA REVIEW)
The Annabelle is a lovely hotel with very polite and effcient staff who couldnt have been more helpful., especially Laura and Pamela on reception.
We had a lovely holiday here and would highly recommend the hotel. The main pool is lovely and then there is the grotto area which also was very nice. We had a side sea view room which was ok - they do overlook the Alymra hotel pool though which had lots of noisy young children swimming and shouting from 9am -
I think the standard rooms are overlooking the road so could be noisy.
We ate at the amarosa restaurant one evening which was nice. The main fontana restaurant has themed evenings - we chose to eat out at the more traditional and cheaper tavernas most of which were within walking distance of the hotel.
beakfasts were perfect - you can get room service to bring a continental bfast to your room for just £2cyp (£2cyp is the standard room service charge) - beware though the rooms dont have coffee and tea making facilities and if you order a cup of tea it will cost £3CYP plus the £2CYP delivery charge!
Lunch at the pool bar was nice as was the fontana restaurant which was the same menu as pool bar and same prices plus more items!
comments on the restuarants we ate at
Calavini (italian) beyond amatheus beach hotel (15 mins walk) very good
Pavarotti (italian) - expensive and very rich food but very smart. (5mins walk)
Gabor (french) - ok - next to calavini (15 mins walk)
7 St Georges Tavern - an experience not to be missed delicious local meze and great value - you need to book though at least 48hrs beforehand! (5mins £4CYP TAXI)
Charlies Place - avoid it nothing special (5mins walk)
Ginas Place - nice food great salads and sandwiches good for lunch (2mins walk)
Happy Island - typical meze (4mins walk)
Taverna Ouzeri - (10 mins walk) opposite nereus hotel - lovely meze very traditional and lovely friendly staff. our favourite along with 7 st georges.
There were couples, families and elderly retired people staying at this hotel and it is ideal for all.
We had 24C weather with sunshine most days over easter 2006.
The main bar street in paphos where all the nightlife is is just around the corner and is full of bars pumping out loud music and generally the party area - not quite our idea for a realxing holiday so after dinner we had a drink at the lobby bar of the hotel which was ideal
If you are a football fan - worry not pretty much every bar shows all UK premiership games on enourmous plasma screens and beers by the pint!!!
I would highly recommend this hotel - but there is no beach to speak of really. The nearest beach is at Coral Bay which looks ok but I imagine in peak season will be packed.
Five star - Don't really think so
Have just come back from a week at the Annabelle. I begged my husband to choose this hotel as it is one of the Preferred Resorts of the World. Not sure about this, maybe it could do with an inspection. Reception area is nicely laid out, but I thought it was looking a little run down and could do with some new furniture. We booked a basic room, and found that it did actually have a sea view to the right hand side. However, the room seemed to be quite small and the furniture was looking a little the worse for wear. Toiletries in the bath room seemed to be very cheap, not what I had expected, but we heard that the deluxe rooms and suites had better ones. Bed was lovely and comfy and they change the sheets every day and the towels twice a day. There is also a turndown service which is a nice touch, although they seemed to come at 6.30pm just when you are getting ready to go out.
The pool area, particularly the grotto pool, are lovely and they sunbeds are plentiful and good wooden ones, loads of towels, take as many as you want, and they are nice and big and soft. Bar service at pools is very good and friendly and the food was good too.
We did complain that our room was small, and they showed us around six other rooms, but without upgrading at a huge cost they were all the same but with different views. Generally we could not fault the service and the longer we were there to more we enjoyed it. Breafast was a real feast, lots of choice. We did not eat in any of their restaurants as we went out to eat, so easy as you are so near all the bars and restaurants.
A real treat was the Spa, prices were reasonable and the treatments were really good, I had a manicure a pedicure and a body wrap, all ran over the specified time but no extra was charged. Laura was fantastic and comes highly recommended.
Generally I would recommned this hotel, but perhaps you need to splash out for a deluxe room or suite.
You are welcome to e.mail me for more info.
Looking for a really good hotel or villa between Larnaca & Limasol
We will be on business in Cyprus, and decided to make a holiday of it. We are looking for a really good hotel or villa w/a sea view between larnaca & Limasol, since we are celebrating our 10th anniversary, and want it to be special.
It's difficult to find info. online, and from the little I found, Larnaca has only one 5 star hotel, and the reviews are so so.
Re: Looking for a really good hotel or villa between Larnaca & Limasol
Two hotels I can recommend - although they are between Limassol and Paphos, which is a much nice strech of cast than Larnaca-Limassol :
- Pissouri Beach Resort, Pissouri
- Annabelle Hotel, Paphos
