daphne hotel and apartments and other general queries???
by giggsy08
hi guys,
me and my girlfriend are both 22 and we are stayin in the daphne apartments for 10 nights from 8th july to the 18th july this summer and was wondering if anyone had any reviews on them, etc. we are in a 1 bed apartment and self catering.
there doesn't seem to be many reviews around the web and it isn't even on the list on this website. photos make it look ok, pretty basic but a good location which is all we need really.
also i was wondering how hot it actually gets in paphos as i heard it got up close to 35 celsius but i have read elsewhere that is is more like high 20's.
very much looking forward to what looks like a fab place to go. does anyone also know if the redevelopment of the barbour area is complete yet as i am hoping it is not a building site when we are there.
daphne seems to be a close location to the seafront near the harbour, are the beaches here okay or do you need to travel further such as coral bay?
thanks in advance for any advice.

In July & August the temperature is much more likely to be in the mid 30s than in mid to high 20s.

My wife and I are not beach people but when we were there last year, the central beaches didnt look up to much. There is a small beach behind the large hotels (about 10 mins walk to the left as you look at the harbour) and a larger beach further on that looks loke it is set behind an area of waste ground. Corel Bay seems to be the best choice (or a large beach-front just off the road towards Corel Bay)- also there is a large beach just parallel to the Tombs of the Kings area which is a fair-old walk from Paphos Harbour if you take the coastal path. (lots of weeds colected into piles)
We loved Paphos though - from the hussle-bussle of Bar Street to the peaceful harbour, nice shops, friendly bars.
We went in June last year and hit a freak heat-wave of up to 40-odd degrees! The swimming pool was actually very warm!
Travel Tips for Paphos
Monasteries
by sandysmith
Monasteries are plentiful but the most visited one is Kykos high in the Troodos mountains with its splendid mosaics - see more pics in the travelogue. The monastery is renowned throughout the Greek Orthodox church for its icon of the Virgin Mary. It is customary to have your shoulders and knees covered for such visits - be awful to go all that way only to be refused entry at the door for wearing shorts :-(
the post-office of Paphos
by globetrott
he post-office of Paphos is one of the older buildings of this town and it looked quite nice. The postoffice seems to be in just a small area of that building nowadays and they are also open for business only from Monday till Friday from 07.30 am untill 01.30pm plus Wednesday afternoon from 03.00pm till 05.30pm.
Drinking and dancing
by paphoshomepage about Woodyz Cocktail Bar
This wild lively bar is just bursting with atmosphere and good spirit! Buzzing with the latest R'n'B this bar attracts both locals and tourists and is without a doubt one of the koolest bars in Paphos! It has a generously sized dance floor and a large bar serving every kind of delicious concoction thought about! Located in a perfect position in the centre of Bar Street, you can sit inside or outside. There's usually someone around offering a couple of free shots and if you come across naughty Nick I'm sure he'll sort you out with a free cocktail or two. You really cannot miss Woody'z, especially on the nights they inflate the massive Woody Woodpecker on the roof! We love it! Anything...!!
SPLASH CAFE POOL-BAR.
by cazz38
Trust the men to have found this.the splash bar cafe has a swimming pool, two giant screens for sporting events, two pool tables and it also serves a range of snacks and drinks, its on the way in to Paphos harbour.
mosaics
by Bevphelan
The Mosaics are well woth a visit although I am glad we were not walking around in july or august as they are fairly spread out and would have burnt. So if you go make sure you take something to cover up with whilst walking from one mosaic to another. I wouldnt take small children as after the first couple they would get bored.
