Anna has her own special charm
by TripAdvisor Member Sharoninsc
We enjoyed two stays at the Hotel Anna in June, 2005. Though the rooms are modestly furnished, and the elevator holds just one person at a time, the hotel it has some great advantages. The people at the front desk all speak English and could not be more helpful ("That's what I'm here for," said one, when I thanked her for helping with theater tickets, and reading the city map). If you don't speak Czech, getting help with reservations and directions makes life a lot easier in Prague. The staff will gladly arrange for efficient and honest taxi service to and from their hotel. The hotel is just around the corner from a "Cyber-Laundromat," so you can check email while you wash and dry your clothes. The hotel is quite near a Metro station, making it easy to get into the city. It's a good hike from the City Center (we walked it once and got very lost!) but the Metro is a cinch to use, even for non-Czech speakers. You'll find lots of restaurants in the Anna neighborhood, including a charming sidewalk bar/cafe right next door. By the way, if you love classical music, try to catch a symphony concert at the Rudolfinium downtown--but there seem to be concerts scheduled in lots of places.
Book with care!

I cannot comment on the quality of the hotel as I did not get past the lobby! Despite making a reservation several months in advance we arrived to find that the hotel could not provide the 3 rooms that we had booked. Instead of 3 twin rooms they offered 2 twins and a double. As we could not check in until later we went for a stroll. On our return we discovered that a second of our twin rooms had been given to someone else who had just arrived. This family had booked just 2 days previously. We eventually moved hotels and had a fantastic stay at the Hotel Clarice.
Good value

A group of ten of us stayed in Hotel Anna on a girlie weekend. For the price we payed, we were more than happy. It had all the requirements that we needed for a basic hotel stay - the rooms were clean, the beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were spotless. The staff were very helpful. The walk into town was fairly simple and the area around the hotel felt perfectly safe, even in the early hours of the morning when returning from a great night out.
Fantastic Staff at an OK Hotel

Incredibly friendly and helpful young staff are the backbone to keeping this hotel going. Whether you are looking to go on tours, asking for restaurant reservations or need help mapping out the best way to get from point A to point B the staff at the front desk were more than happy to help. The room and bathroom were very large, though fairly sparse and basic. It had all the essentials...but not an ounce more. The nice breeze from the open windows was almost not worth the noise that went on until all hours of the night--request a quiet room (and one on a lower floor---the elevator about the size of a coffin. There are very few restaurants, sites and activities around the hotel, but the Red Barron down the street has excellent food and is a great deal.
