Prague Info Please
Greetings from the United States:
We are going to Prauge next summer and we want to
start getting info early. We have a couple questions if you
could help us ....
1. We will be flying in Vienna and coming straight to
Prague by train ....
Can we get the train at Vienna airport to Prague ??
If so, what train do we get ??
We then will be taking the train: Prague to Budapest ....
What train do we get ??
2. What is the "Matilda" Card ?? We were told it is a
discount visitors travel card for all the local city
transportation....

Hello Mary and Al,
To get from Vienna Airport to Prague : 4 direct trains a day leave from "Wien Sudbahnhof" (this means Vienna South railwaystation) to Prague. Departure times are : 0650, 1025, 1425, 1825. Arrival times in Prague respectively 1123,1459,1859,2314.
To get from the airport to Wien Sudbahnhof, you need to take a bus (or a taxi if you are not on a budget). These buses leave roughly every half hour from the airport and take 20 mins.
From Praha to Budapest : 5 direct trains every day. Departure times from Prague : 0608,0858,1258,1556,2334. Arrival time in Budapest respectively : 1533,1549,1948,2248,0813(next day). The first connection is of little interest (takes too long), the fifth connection is an overnight : you can book beds on this train.
