PRAGUE to BERLIN

by DiscreteAngel

Hi all VTers,

What is the cheapest and safest transportation from Prague to Berlin?
We have 4 people, is there a discount?

Thanks~~

Cheapest is the bus - either www.studentagencybus.com (night bus every night) or http://www.bei.cz/ (morning bus 4 days in a week). No group discounts, only early bookers (over 30 days).

Then you can take number of trains. I am not expert on this, but there some discounts depending on which train you take. Unfortunately, no on-line sales page in English. To look up train use www.vlak.cz or www.bahn.de.

Hi!
This e-shop for the Czech Railways https://eshop.cd.cz/Default.aspx has directions for use in English.

www.bahn.de also has an option for english and other languages on a drop-down in the upper right corner.

Travel Tips for Prague

A Brief History of the Czech Lands

by suzannehye

If you are serious about learning about the Czechs, pick up this little volume: A Brief History of the Czech Lands to 2004, by Petr Cornej and Jiri Pokorny. A slim book, it is very readable and takes you from the beginning of Czech history to the present, with quite a few illustrations and photos. It gives you a great overview of how Prague was built, and why the people venerated in statuary and architecture are still important to the Czech people. The book, ISBN 80-7252027x, was about $8 US, and can be picked up at almost any bookstore in Prague. Prague's history goes back to the 900s, but each step in its history is remembered by its people.

Vysehrad

by bugulma

Legend says that exactly staying here, Libushe princess foretold the Prague's foundation. Vysehrad is absolutely historical place and new buildings aren't built here. Vysehrad is a fortress. Citizens built walls in XVII century. You can feel ancient spirit here completely. Get metro line C that to go there (Vysehrad metrostation).

Don't forget your camera and walk!

by ncfg

Exploring Prague on foot like i did, you must wear comfortable shoes. Remember; on foot you will take amazing pics of things in otherwise you will not notice. Visiting Prague you certainty will not forget it anymore, but the best way to keep your memories is with beautiful photos. So don't forget your camera, you will have plenty of amazing buildings and views to capture.

Bridge of Sighs on Hradschin

by globetrott

" Bridge of Sighs " is of course NOT the official name of this bridge, it simply reminds me a lot of the famous sight in Venice !

This one is on the way to the castle of Prague, not far away from Palais Waldstein / Valdstejnsky palac, right under the castle of Prague !
