Friendly service, resturant below. It's located close to the Charles bridge. Very active location.
Unique Quality: I don't know if it's expensive or cheap ( I didn't pay). I just know I enjoyed staying there.
Hotel was basic but then very close to the Old Square and within easy walking distance of everything. But the staff were very unfriendly not willing to help at all. There was building work going on right under our room, drilling and banging from early morning and all the staff could do was laugh. Our room wasn't cleaned during our stay and you had to go outside down the courtyard for breakfast which in -12 degrees is not funny. Wouldn't suggest anyone try this hotel.
Unique Quality: The hotel backed on to a few resturants who used the courtyard to store their garbage bins, which were emptied nightly at around 2am. Which woke everyone up.
Stayed there for 4 nights in May 2004. They have two buildings, and I stayed in the alternate building. It is strange getting to your room because you have to unlock these large wooden doors, climb some stone steps, then an old iron gate (no separate watchman at this building, you rely on these doors and gates), and then one more door. Definitely a no-no if you have heavy luggage. The room itself was quite nice and spacious. However, there is no hairdryer, hot water runs out quickly, and there's not a soapdish in the shower either.
Worst of all is the noise. The location is literally right off Charles Bridge and close to several clubs and restaurants. There are lots of people screaming and yelling at night until 3 am in the morning. We were able to sleep by turning the fan on to drown out some of the noise.
Restaurant serve ok food but not good food. Breakfast was included.
Overall, great location, but I don't recommend it because it is really really noisey (in fact, the whole street of Karlova is always very noisey).
Unique Quality: Great location.
Directions: Right next to Charles Bridge on the Stare Mesto (Old Town) side. It is about a 5-10 minute walk from the closest subway and tram stop, 5 minutes from Old Town Square.
It was about $100 US for a three person room.
Unique Quality: It houses a hotel, a resteraunt, and a night club in the basement. You can't lose with the location.
Directions: 6 Karlovy, Prague 1
It's a couple of buildings on Karlovy right by the St. Charles Bridge.
