Elite Hotel

This friendly little hotel is located in a 14th-century monastic building. It's been well restored and still retains a lot of the old charm: a nice courtyard, echoey halls and arched gates. It's also located at spitting distance from the Národní tøída metro/tram station on the edge of Staré Mìsto and Nové Mìsto, so everything is within walking distance, too.

The rooms and bathrooms are clean and tidy and feature all the facilities one could expect from a modern hotel. We were on the ground floor which was a bit noisy in the morning with people going to and from the reception/breakfast area. I think a stay on one of the upper floors will solve that. The hotel does include, however, a nice restaurant and bar/nightclub in the basement.

Unique Quality: The building is gorgeous and the location within the old town of Prague is superb!

Central to sights

My sister and I stayed at the Elite for a week in December 2006. It is ideally situated for touring the sites in Prague on foot. Our room was very comfortable with a nice bath and shower. The sheets and towels were changed evey day. Breakfast was from 7am until 10am and of a buffet style. This had a very comprehensive range to suit most people. There is a restaurant in the hotel but it is only open during the day. There are plenty of good restaurants in the visinity. The nice bar is open to the public but it was always quiet during our stay. There are 78 rooms on 3 floors but there is a lift. Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful, however we found some of the reception staff sadly lacking in this area. The rooms have their own safe with a key but our safe seemed to have the wrong key. Every day they promised to rectify this on request but never managed this. On the whole a very enjoyable stay and I would choose the Elite again.

Unique Quality: The bathroom was furnished to a high standard with lots of little extras. Our room overlooked the courtyard garden. There was free internet access if required.

Elite, but open to the proletariat

The Elite hotel is a medium sized-hotel created out of 14th Century townhouses. The entrance is through an impressive brick arch, which was probably originally for coaches.
It leads to the brick-vaulted lobby and bar area and a peaceful courtyard.

Breakfast is taken in a bar area next door to the hotel which is also open to the public. It has no restaurant as such, although the food in this bar (also owned by the hotel) was on a par with the better public houses that serve food in Prague.

In conclusion, it is three-star hotel in terms of amenities but 4 stars in terms of finish of the decor and the quality of service.

Unique Quality: The two suites are listed by the city because of the fine renaissance paintings on the ceiling. Ask to see them when the rooms are not occupied.

Service is also excellent. My father-in-law broke the wheels on his wheelchair when we stayed due to all the rough cobbles in Pargue and the hotel made all the arrangements to find a repairman, and ensured that he only pair the correct local price for the service.

Frozen in Prague

by TripAdvisor Member zirafka

I would like to share a wonderfull experience made in this cozy historic hotel, where we stayed with my friend. The staff were very nice and helpful and hotel has a very romantic atmostphere because of the stylish rooms and location; just great, few steps everywhere you want in the centre. The only thing we did not like was a smell of cigarettes in the morning in breakfast room, in fact bar used in the evenings. We can highly recommend to anyone who wants to spent a short holiday break in Prague.

great location

by A TripAdvisor Member

We ended our Danube River cruise trip, November 2004, with a side trip to Prague for 5 days. We chose this hotel from the photos online and description of it being an historical hotel with antique furnishings. That was true as described! The location was ideal since the hotel was in close walking distance to restaurants, antique shops and all the sights. The breakfast area was the bar in the evenings, was not the most atttractive and enticing. It has room for improvement. I think that was the worst thing about the hotel. The front desk staff were fabulous! They arranged great tickets for classical concerts @ the Municipal House 3 times, as well as helped with restaurant recommendations and side tours. When I had left something behind when returning home, the staff was more than helpful to sending it back quickly to the states.
Something that we remember during our stay that we found amusing was in order to keep your electricity on, you had to keep your entry key (card) into a slot by the front door (especially when you have to relock the door with the attached key). It was a challenge to open your front door in the dark hallway, and then find the slot before the lights would go off! It became a game when I needed to use the attached key for the safe entry before the lights would go off!
Prague was a delight and this staff helped make it that way.

Perfect location for a weekend in Prague

by A TripAdvisor Member

I took my partner to Prague for the weekend for his birthday and am very glad I chose to stay in The Elite. The hotel captures the caverny, gothic feel of prague whilst having great creature comforts and everything you would want from a top notch hotel. I had called the hotel and requested a nice room as it was for a special occasion and sure enough upon arrival we were shown to a large room with a little entrance area, large bedroom and huge modern bathroom. We were really impressed. Location wise the hotel is great and you really can walk everywhere and there is no need to take cabs at all apart from to and from the airport. There is a great selection of good (& cheap) bars and restaurants in the vicinity and the hotels restaurant which has a separate entrance from the street is very good with a great choice of tasty food and seems to be popular with Pragues young good looking crowd. Overall a great choice and i would definitely look into staying at The Elite again if I ever go back to Prague.
