perfect for a base to use!!!

Best (5.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on February 28, 2015

Stayed at the Elite for 4 nights from 22nd Feb. booked this as a package with Jet2 and you get what you pay for, a good basic hotel ideally placed for all areas, close to the metro and tram system.
On arrival we found the staff very helpful and accommodating in our requests, checking in was easy but you do need to leave a credit card details in case of extra costs, so was no hardship, Bedrooms were simple in design, free safe, ask at reception if it is locked and they will reset it for you. Plenty of hot water well designed bathroom, bedding fresh and clean, heating available. Fresh towels changed each day, mini bar stocked if needed, but you are next door to the main Tesco supermarket if you need water, drinks etc.
Morning breakfast plenty of seating, and a good choice of hot and cold food, mainly the same each day but enough to fill you.
Lounge area on a night was nice and relaxed to return to for a beer and cocktails after being out all day open to 12:00am normal hotel prices.
Reception were very helpful in directing you to known points of interest, restaurants etc. Tram metro tickets can be brought just 20 yards away at the tabac on the corner. All day ticket cost 110 kc, each well worth it.
Overall for the staff and the location would recommend this hotel to family and friends to use as a base in Prague and for its location.

Elite Hotel

Great (4.0 of 5.0 stars)

This friendly little hotel is located in a 14th-century monastic building. It's been well restored and still retains a lot of the old charm: a nice courtyard, echoey halls and arched gates. It's also located at spitting distance from the Národní tøída metro/tram station on the edge of Staré Mìsto and Nové Mìsto, so everything is within walking distance, too.

The rooms and bathrooms are clean and tidy and feature all the facilities one could expect from a modern hotel. We were on the ground floor which was a bit noisy in the morning with people going to and from the reception/breakfast area. I think a stay on one of the upper floors will solve that. The hotel does include, however, a nice restaurant and bar/nightclub in the basement.

Unique Quality: The building is gorgeous and the location within the old town of Prague is superb!

Directions: Close to Národní tøída metro/tram station.

Central to sights

My sister and I stayed at the Elite for a week in December 2006. It is ideally situated for touring the sites in Prague on foot. Our room was very comfortable with a nice bath and shower. The sheets and towels were changed evey day. Breakfast was from 7am until 10am and of a buffet style. This had a very comprehensive range to suit most people. There is a restaurant in the hotel but it is only open during the day. There are plenty of good restaurants in the visinity. The nice bar is open to the public but it was always quiet during our stay. There are 78 rooms on 3 floors but there is a lift. Most of the staff were very friendly and helpful, however we found some of the reception staff sadly lacking in this area. The rooms have their own safe with a key but our safe seemed to have the wrong key. Every day they promised to rectify this on request but never managed this. On the whole a very enjoyable stay and I would choose the Elite again.

Unique Quality: The bathroom was furnished to a high standard with lots of little extras. Our room overlooked the courtyard garden. There was free internet access if required.

Directions: Not far from The National Theatre, main street, river etc.

Elite, but open to the proletariat

Great (4.0 of 5.0 stars)

The Elite hotel is a medium sized-hotel created out of 14th Century townhouses. The entrance is through an impressive brick arch, which was probably originally for coaches.
It leads to the brick-vaulted lobby and bar area and a peaceful courtyard.

Breakfast is taken in a bar area next door to the hotel which is also open to the public. It has no restaurant as such, although the food in this bar (also owned by the hotel) was on a par with the better public houses that serve food in Prague.

In conclusion, it is three-star hotel in terms of amenities but 4 stars in terms of finish of the decor and the quality of service.

Unique Quality: The two suites are listed by the city because of the fine renaissance paintings on the ceiling. Ask to see them when the rooms are not occupied.

Service is also excellent. My father-in-law broke the wheels on his wheelchair when we stayed due to all the rough cobbles in Pargue and the hotel made all the arrangements to find a repairman, and ensured that he only pair the correct local price for the service.

Directions: On a side street near the large Tesco's, or see the map on the website
