Art Shop
by sandranunes
Hi all,
Me again. I would like to know about any large art material shop in Prague. I´m very fond of KOH-I-NOOR HARDTMUT products. I wonder if they have a retail downtown?
I know it is something quite specific but I would appreciate any help you could give me as I will not have much time in the city.
Thank you very much,

I passed rather a lot of art shops whilst wandering Prague last week (though cannot say if they stock the product you want).
There are listings here:
http://www.expats.cz/prague/directory/arts-crafts-supplies/0/
Clicking on the shop name will bring up more info/contact details.
Prague 1 is the central district (in or near the Stare Mesto/Old town) and I think this is the best place to look (lots of the listings are in Prague 1). Just have a good street map with you and you should be able to plot a route between them.

Thanks Leics!
From the list,it seems that just two of the shops are really fine arts dealers, they have websites and I´ll contact them to inquiry.
It was very helpful.

Altamira was very near my hotel, so I passed it every day. It looked pretty well stocked. Hope you find what you want. :-)

Yes, Altamira has a neat website in Czech, the American flag just shows the shop contact, but google translator is helping me out;-)!

Hy
there are also two Koh-I-Noor Hardtmuth stores in Praha: one in Vinohrady, in Slezská 6, very close Namesti Miru (there is metro stop) and the center, one in Nusle, in Nuselská 26/78, a little bit outside the center. Travel Tips for Prague
Sorry, but I only speak English.
by irvbur
I don't expect people in whose country I am visiting, to speak English. So, I have the desk clerk of my hotel write the name of those locations that I wish to visit on the back of a hotel card in the native language. I write the name of that location in English, on the front. You can get around by bus or taxi (or even ask directions on the street) by showing this card. It also gets you back to your hotel when you're finished for the day. The cards make great keepsakes if you're keeping a scrapbook or journal.
The Middle Ages Surround You Everywhere
by mrclay2000
Wherever you go in central Prague, the Middle Ages surround you. Some of the most imposing structures in the city are 500 years old or older, glaring down at you from the Gothic pages of medieval architecture. Most of the city's highest perspectives are allowed to visitors for a small fee from towers such as the Old Town Hall, the Powder Gate, etc. More of that later . . .
Local Food
by ettenaj
The favorite meat is pork which is prepared in many different ways. Perhaps tha national dish can be defined as pork with caddage and dumplings, but on festive occasions pork maybe replaced by a roast duck or goose. Game dishes such as venison or hare are also on the menu, along with the world-famous Prague ham..
Apple strudel......pancakes.and doughnuts are exceptionally tempting, just watch those calories !!!!!
Get you picture done.
by heitzenrater
In the picture you can see a person getting a sketch. The artist was very skillful and it may be worth your time and money to get a unique gift for yourself or maybe a romantic picture of you and your partner. This was done on the famous Charles Bridge. Many artist to choose from. Have fun with it!

Vysehrad Cemetery: New Orleans of the Old World
by cjuliette
This was a stunning day spent at the Vysyhrad fortifications and cemetery. The monuments and crypts had the presence of a New Orleans masouleum, with the greeneess of Europe rplacing the concreteness of America.
Go back twice because I spent weeks after we left thinking of the shots I missed.

Questions and Answers
Q: Prague public transportation "Hello VT;
I'm so confused how the 1 day or 3 days pass works. It says that you have to validate the pass/ticket before..."
A: "You validate it once and then it is good for the 24/72 hours on all public transport whether metro, bus or tram."
