    A Jewel in Mala Strana

    by

Have just had the most fantastic stay at this wonderful hotel in Little Quarter.

The hotel stands out as brand new (2003) and has 17 charming rooms on 5 floors. The rooms are very spacios with a large bathroom as well. We got a lovely room on the 4th floor with a beautiful view of the red city roofs.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, in fact so helpful that my boyfriends t-shirts and shorts were nicely folded on the nightstand one evening when we got home (well, we found it charming).

The breakfast is served in the Arcadia bar/café and the selection was good and changed somewhat from day to day. You may also order breakfast to your room.

If you don't make it to breakfast it's a popular place for lunch, too - exellent sandwiches!

I read a review of this hotel somewhere and the person talked about small pillows and a hard mattress. I only agree with the pillow - ask for another one at the front desk - they'll fix it! And for facilities/amenities in the rooms: they've got it all. There were even bathrobes!

The hotel is situated in pittoresque Nerudova street, on the way up to the Castle, so the area is touristy, but bars/restaurants close here at about 11 pm. Head for Old Town if you want to stay out late.

I simply loved this hotel and it's situation is perfect if you're in Prague for the first time - and don't mind the walk up the hill from Charles Bridge.

Unique Quality: Panorama balcony on the 4th floor - a great view to the Castle and the small roof top garden for a romantic moment.

Free internet access from the computer on the 1st floor.

    Air-condition in some rooms.

Directions: 3 minutes on foot (up the hill) from the St Niclolas church in Mala Strana. 5 minutes from Charles Bridge.

Simply the best

The very first second you walk in The Golden Wheel hotel in Prague, you feel like you've been there youre for a long time. You feel like you've entered your own home.
The staff is the nicest I've ever seen in any hotel worldwide.
The hotel is coazy and clean, makes you feel like home.
The rooms are quite big, and really comfortable.
The breakfast is more then anyone could wish for. Great food, and large quantities of it...

The hotel looks like it was renovated lately, since eveything looks new. Yet it combines modernism and anthiques.

The location of the hotel is great also - just a few minutes walking distance from Charls Bridge.

I recomend this hotel, to anyone who likes to feel at home, and to be located right in the center of everything.

PERFECT HOTEL!!!!

A charming and comfortable place

We spent five days in Prague and the choice of our hotel was partially influenced by the enthusiastic opinions on tripadvisor. Today we join all these people and express our total satisfaction.
Everything corresponds to the rich choice of photos on the hotel's website. The Golden Wheel ist the perfect accomodation for visitors who like the romantic atmosphere of a historic building combined with all modern comfort and good taste. We felt llike at home, the staff is particularly firendly, helfpul, efficient and gives his visitors all individual treat. Beautiful room, bathroom in "Grand hotel" style, very rich and varied breakfast in the charming café.
The location is ideal on the beautiful Neruda Street near the Castle and not far from Charles Bridge, but more quiet than the old town center.
Recently transformed in a hotel this lovely baroque house will suit visitors who prefer the atmosphere of a "Guest house" to that of a big unpersonal hotel of the great international groups.

Great Hotel, Great Location!

Just returned from 3 nights at the Golden Wheel and found both the Hotel & the City simply fantastic.
Although only a small hotel I could not find any fault with this establishment. All the staff speak excellent English and are really friendly & helpful. The rooms are decorated to a high standard and are extremely comfortable & relaxing, also, at night you could hear a pin drop outside and getting a good nights sleep was never a problem, unlike some of the areas on the other side of the river! We found there was plenty to pick from at breakfast with usual choices of cereals, fruits, bread as well as a cooked option, if none of this takes your fancy you could always go for the freshly cooked omelette.
The area itself was fine, with a decent choice of restaurants & bars within 5 minutes walk in either direction, although as I said, there was no late night noise. Charles Bridge is about a 5-10 minute walk away downhill, 10-15 minutes to the town square. Prague Castle is directly behind the hotel and is a fairly steep uphill walk, but again only 5-10 mins away.
The only downside was that the location is fairly hilly, but that was a small price to pay to be in such a wonderful area from which to explore the City.
My wife and I shall be returning to Prague and definitely staying at the Golden Wheel again.

We loved this hotel!

What a find this hotel was! We simply loved everything about it. The Mala Strana location was amazing -- a short walk to the bridge, but far away from the bustle of the old town.

We are a family of four, and stayed in one of the top floor suites. Our room was clean and well-appointed, and the girls loved their "loft" bedroom! (Be aware that there was a long set of stairs leading to it.) If air conditioning is important, ask for it. Some but not all rooms are air conditioned.

Breakfast was delicious and the hotel even provides free internet service. The castle view is lovely. And the staff was courteous, very helpful and spoke English perfectly.

I wouldn't hesitate to go back should I be lucky enough to visit Prague again!

Genuinely Flawless

Everything about the Golden Wheel oozes class. Whether it be the dressing gowns, breakfast in bed or simply the stunning rooms and decor, your stay will be memorable! Situated a stones throw from the impressive Prague Castle, you have a head start on the tourists making their way up to the highest Quarter of Prague. Seriously, the location of this gem of a hotel couldn't be better. It's 5 minutes away from Charles bridge but a million miles quieter.

I chose the Golden Wheel over The Riverside. I won't forget Prague and plan to return at Christmas. To the Golden Wheel? Absolutely!

Superb!

This hotel far surpassed our expectations. We have two teenagers and when booked a room for 4, we expected the usual slightly cramped conditions. Far from it - the room was VERY spacious, clean and modern. The room was on two levels with a double bed on the upper plus en-suite toilet & T.V. The lower level had a double sofa bed, T.V and spacious bathroom with 2 basins with all usual toiletries provided. A bonus was the free internet where our teenagers could connect with the 'outside world' .
We were on the top floor which provided beautiful views of prague from the several windows and it was very peaceful at night.
The staff were very friendly and helpful...they even lent us an umbrella for the day when it was showery!
The hotel is situated at the foot of the castle but only a 10-15 min picturesque walk into the lesser town..we couldn't have chosen a better option as it took us over the Charles bridge each day where we were serenaded by the many street musicians.
The continental breakfast was ample for our needs and indeed Prague is comparatively cheap to eat and drink out by many Euopean standards.
We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone except those with a baby buggy as the heavily cobbled streets may be a challenge! We will certainly revisit Prague and stay at this hotel.

Super small hotel

by TripAdvisor Member travelguru

My wife and I were very pleased with this hotel. Lovely spacious, modern rooms in a building full of character.
Staff very friendly and helpful and hotel gives impression you are actually staying somewhere special rather than a chain hotel with that many guests no one really knows who you are.

Location is in a lovely street on the way to Castle so easy short walk and you can get there early to miss the crowds.
We preferred this location in Mala Strana to over the bridge, as to us, it was quieter and nicer.

A bit more of a walk over the bridge to old town square and difficult to say how long it takes as we kept stopping for photos and in all the shops on the way. An awful lot of touristy souveneir shops on way to old town square.

Not all rooms have air con which i didn't think i would need in September but it was quite hot so had to leave window open and as our room faced the street it was only noisy in the early morning especially on a Tuesday when buckets get emptied.

Breakfast was a good selection of continental fare with a couple of hot dishes and eggs cooked to order. I stuck to cold selection and enjoyed the ham, chesse, bread and pastries on offer. Service was also excellent from a very polite efficient gentleman.

We really liked this hotel and felt very much at home.

Would have no hesitation recommending this hotel.

Ideal Location

by TripAdvisor Member samlofty

We picked the Golden Wheel after reading a number of Prague hotel reviews on TripAdvisor. We specifically did not want a characterless chain hotel which could have been anywhere.
What a wonderful location, full of character and so near to everything in Prague but just far enough off the main tourist trail to be quiet. The location is really excellent and the streets and surrounding area spotlessly clean. Head up the the main road to the Castle past St Nicholas's Church in Mala Strana. We made extensive use of local transport with the nearest tram stop 5 minutes walk away.
Super staff for whom nothing was too much trouble. We had a huge room, beautifully decorated and furnished to a high standard - fabulous bathrooms. All the rooms have bathrobes, hairdrier, minibar, safe, tv, toiletries, etc. Internet access is on the 1st floor. The breakfast is plentiful (seemed never ending!) - continental buffet and cooked breakfast if required at no extra charge. We would recommend this hotel to anyone who enjoys quality, unobtrusive service, in quite elegant surroundings. We have already recommended it to a number of friends and shall certainly return.

fantastic

Stayed here for 2 nights with my 16 year old nephew. The hotel is stunning, a mixture of old and new. Breakfast was pletiful. Stayed in a Junior Suite which had its own patio garden. Location is excellent for the Castle area. We walked our socks off - didnt use the public transport at all. The architecture is a treat. Food and drink excellent value. Would recommend to anyone. Cant wait to go back.
